I know the Niteparts bell will take 4A-GZE flywheel and clutch.

I'll reiterate what I wrote on the old forums. I've got a Niteparts bellhousing from Brendan in EnZud, got it sent over about 18 months ago, I think I was in the first handful of guys to get them and so I paid a bit more for mine than what it looks like you guy's are going to be paying, but I needed it asap and Brendan came through with the goods so to speak.

The bellhousing I got was pretty much perfect, the inside edge of the bellhousing had been linished by Niteparts already, I gave it a bit more of a grind, and the gze flywheel gave it a bit more on the first drive haha, so no real problems with that part of the setup. I went to a specialised brake place in Wollongong, as they also do clutch bits and pieces, and got a clutch slave cylinder to suit the W58 after I told the guys there the sort of setup I would need. I got my gearbox guy to setup the slave and that for me, it needed a custom length rod and that but he sorted all that shit out pretty easily, me and my old man had a go at it but couldn't get the pedal feel quite right, there was also a shiteload of air in the system, took ages to get it all out.

I had to get my gearbox guy to have a 2nd attempt at the shifter housing selection, the first shifter sat too far forward and hit and bent the very front of the stock T-50 shifter hole. The 2nd one I got was almost perfect, it might be a fraction too far back for some people, but some mild cutting and massaging of the shifter hole has the W58 shifter in a perfect position, well for my liking anyway. A little bit of aluminium, screws, rubber washers, and some cutting and a gear boot thrown in for good measure, and I reckon the finished product looks pretty fcuking good for a track pig lol.

Re: BigWorm's concerns about the angle of the shifter, my shifter sits pretty straight, it sits tall 'cos of the Star Trek-esque W58 shifter design, but none the less still fairly bloody straight.

    Cheers, Daniel.

Mate if you could get more details & maybe pics of these ones, & ask about a bulk purchase & get some prices then he might have himself a few extra customers.
A final answer would be good ASAP, however if this group buy comes down to me I'll be asking for deposits before the order takes place, dunno when that will be, still waiting to hear from various parties (including you ).

Info you're after is IN. To reconfirm, the niteparts angle looks sweet, & requires minimal gringing to fit GZE flywheel (whereas this shitty dellhousing required grinding just to fit the 200mm flywheel & clutch!!! )
What 6 speeds similar prices to W5xs??? And will they handle as much punishment & be as easy to source replacements as a W5x? Just remember the rest of us aren't currently living in Japan.

Thanks for the info Daniel, most helpful!

big worm they are a little pricey but are worth it in the end TRUST me !! like spriter saurus mentioned they will fit the GZE fly and clutch -- BONUS -- i had to linish mine a little on the inside but no biggie. They are excellent quality and look factory.

You can cut the shifter at the base (near the big ball that sits in the cup ) and then angle the shifter where you need it and weld it back together.

That's a pic of my bellhousing and gearbox above there when I first got it and bolted them together. As you can see the finish on the Niteparts bellhousing is first class, I compared the inside of it to a T-50 bellhousing and they look very similar, the Niteparts one does look almost factory, except that it's clean and not covered in 20 years of road grime and crap.

All the holes lined straight up to the gearbox and bolted up, and once the car was on the hoist the bellhousing lined straight up to the block and bolted in like it was factory.

On a more sour note, I originally bought one of those 4a-W58 adaptor plate kits, I would advise anyone against getting one of those, the fit and finish was so poor I didn't even have to put it up against the gearbox to see there was no way it was going to fit properly or line up. There was one good thing that came with the adaptor plate kit though, a W58 crossmember to suit an AE86, I'm guessing if you use the same measurements of this x-member then you could use it in an AE71 and KE70 project aswell. I think it was Giant Tomato that commented when I put up a thread about the x-member that the one I've got might need a bit of gusseting for extra strength, I've checked the one in my car after putting some kays on it and it seems fine, a little bit of extra strength on the sides wouldn't do any harm though I suppose.

spoke to dimitri at kaizen garage, they usually sell bills bellhousings when he has them, not much from bill about wether he'll be goin there again soon, so i guess that rules that out, they can also get niteparts housing, but it seems as if we're already heading in that direction anyway, i'll hold off asking them about gettin the niteparts one, as someone else already said they were talkin to ant from kaizen garage, would suck to order 2 lots of them in.

Sorry guys, take me off the list.
I've decided to go 1UZ instead of 4A when i found out the price between the two isn't that big.

Ok, I've been in touch with Brendan from NiteParts, he's quoted us $550NZ per bellhousing + $25 each for postage. Although he's making up a new batch soon & they won't be ready for around 6 weeks.
So that works out to be $503AUD landed.
I'd get them all sent to Sydney, and the Sydney people can pick them up or choose to pay for them to be mailed/couriered, and the interstate parties can have them forwarded on from there.

So, is everyone up for that? If so, I'd like to at least get deposits before the order is made, then full payment before the order is sent.

Hi Joel, 6 weeks is OK with me, just collecting the bits, before I start the conversion.
    So yep definately IN.
I think Australia post charged under $20.00 for the last bellhousing I sent.
"Q" do you have to seek Toymods Board approval, before we go any further ?

    cheers Chuck.

As for whether I'm in or not, I'm going to talk to Ant when I pick up a triple core Koyo radiator that I ordered through him as part of a group buy. 6 weeks is a long wait, I was hoping I'd have my hachi all together by then but I suppose that's a bit out of the question if I can't have my box installed by then.

So when are you guys going to finalise this shiz?

There is no fabrication needed with a Niteparts bellhousing, you unbolt the factory bellhousing, bolt up the Niteparts one, and shove it back onto your motor. All you have to do is make sure you set up the bearing and clutch fork properly, and setup the slave cylinder, you might have to get a new clutch line made up, and that's it.

    Piece of cake.
