well, that made progress, but still no kick over.. it had a few splutters and some black smoke out the back, sounded like it was about to kick over, but didn't..

Now i have the injectors/coils wired as such,

    Injectors:
    paired to cylinders 1/4
    paired to cylinders 2/6
    paired to cylinders 3/5

    Coils:
    output 1 to coil 1/6
    output 2 to coil 2/5
    output 3 to coil 3/4

    Guys,

How many sparks should occur during one roation of the CPS??

being wasted spark i presumed 2 sparks per rotation? Is that correct? If so i think i've found a problem

mmk, i am having trouble visualising it,

the crank spins twice for each single rotation of the cams and cps

so piston goes down, up, down up. isn't that only 2 sparks?

    Sorry, 2 sparks yes.

One spark in a normal setup, 2 sparks on wasted spark. (for every full rotation of the CPS)

Why have you paired the injectors differently to the coils? I understand coils has to be in firing order and grouped with its corresponding coil for waste spark. I would have thought you would do the same for the injectors?

Probably won't change much but just a thought.

He's mimic'd the way factory does it.

And I tihnk the idea with pair injectors, is that the 2nd injector to fire is the one that is next in line in the firing order.

mmm, that is how the injectors are paired on the factory loom, and was how they were paired on the loom that came with the EMS. I too think it looks wrong, but I was told it shouldn't matter too much to at least get the car to kick over.

However if I did have the injectors paired the same as the coils, would it matter that it would be spraying fuel into one of the paired cylinders at the wrong time?

For example with cylinders 1 and 6 paired when 1 is fueled 6 will be as well even though it will be on the incorrect stroke, I don't think it would cause any problems other than poorer fuel economy.

In regaurds to sparking, it does actually look like each coil is firing double the speed of the CPS

im with chris m8 i think they should be the same as the injectors.

Have you got the ECU set for waste spark setup?

What sort of sync edge / firing edge are you using?

Sorry bud but i havent had time to check my ecu for the temp variation on crank yet.
from memory it will fluctuate till its running!

hany info but it doesnt show how the coils are wired.

What im getting at is that the injectors should be wired (paired) the same as the coils

    Err, yes it does.

What I'm getting at is that he has wired it as per the factory setup.

i used to install them and i have never done one like this.

I thought that was the injectors in that pic not the coils ???? mabe im blind ill have another gander!

the thing you got to remember is that it isn't one fuel-squirt per engine revolution (2 x crank revolutions) - there's two of them. That's why it doesn't follow the ignition sequence.

It's not sequential injection or ignition so dont think of it like a diesel.
