Get a cheap 2nd-hand Microleb or Megasquirt or other low-end ECU. I'd suggest the megasquirt as there are folks who have done this engine and the user community shares configurations. You can use the existing dizzi and trigger wheel, and also the stock coolant temp sensor. Air-temp sensor can come from any toyota that has a separate IAT sensor in the airbox (or simply grab the coolant and air temp sensors from a V6 commode).
Can you tell me which model to look for?

I only know the Megasquirt hardware - do you feel like building a kit (e.g. handy with a soldering iron) or would you prefer something you just wire up, tune and do epic dirt skids with?

Kits are ok for me and theres quite a few second hand ones out there but i dont know which models will work for me.

    This: http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/m...ase-p-119.html

Then install MS Extra 2 firmware. Use the ITB's TPS. Pinch the air-temp sensor from a v6 commode (back of intake manifold) and a bosch coolant temp sensor (2 pin, not the 1 pin gauge sensor).

Even tho you race it, a wideband kit LC1 (or a kit from 14point7.com unit if you feel brave) will help you sorting out the tune.

Several folks here have got 18RGs on Megasquirt ECUs - they might be willing to share. Tho being ITB, I would suggest some dyno time to get the fuel maps and the accel settings suitable for race work.

No, you replace the AFM with a MAP sensor (both are a 0-5v output), then use the UAFC to 'tune' the voltage output back to the ecu.

If changing to a MAP sensor on ITB's you will probably need to link all intlets (post TB) to a common canister/pulsation dampener to get a clean MAP signal.

Other option is do as suggested, and create a plenum and retain an AFM, but use a larger AFM (eg. a bosch flap type one from a 3.5l BMW), but would still need tuning with the likes of the UAFC, but may be just a overall reduction based on the increase of cross section area in the AFM. Or even go to a hotwire type AFM eg. Nissan.
These may give a better result than a change to a MAP sensor on an AFM based ecu, and if you have big cams etc...

I can sell you my fully assembled Megasquirt 2 ECU if you like. I am looking to move up to the Megasquirt 3 as it has some features which would be beneficial to my 18R-GTE.

Let me know. I also have the wiring loom and serial programming cable for it.
