digging up old threads i know... but anyone know what the factory redline is set at? i'm looking to get a tacho (FINALLY!!) for the RA, since i believe you can't hook up the stock RA tach to the 1G (feel free to correct me here (i know about the tach pulse correcter thingy too)) is there any point getting a 10K tacho? or will an 8K tacho suffice?

    cheers

8K is redline on 1g engine

so really no need for 10K rpm meter but almost all performance meters now come in 10K which is not bad i guess but then u dont get to see the remaining 2K being used lolllll

    cheers

    Ahh love the misinformation.

Redline on a 1GGE is 7200rpm with a hard redline at 7700rpm according to my dash.

    The redline for a 1GGTE is 6500rpm with a cutout at 7200rpm.

    We can't all get 1JZ's...

More on topic would be to stick with the threads original idea of upgrade paths for the 1G-GTE.

Junking it for a 1JZ is hardly an upgrade for the 1G.

Good man It annoys me when people say "just get a 1jz/2jz" etc... if I wanted a 2jz, I would have gota 2jz, infact it would have been cheaper then rebuilding my 1G... (faster too) However there are hardly any 1gs in the uk at all... and the rarity factor is worth something too!!!!

yeah sorry guys i only said 8k for the purpose of installing the tachometer my mistake i should have been precise i didnt realise people would be readign this and using for other purposes as well
i only said 8k was due to the factor of fitting a rpm meter no use having a 10k one when the meter is only going to rev to 7200, so a rpm meter with an 8k reading was more than enuf

    cheers
