Think about it, the only time you use boost is when you're accelerating, and it doesn't take long to accelerate to the speed limit. The rest of the time is off boost. Unless you want to drive around in 2nd gear (which I occasionally do).

The only time when off boost performance doesn't count is when you're on a twisty bit of road with no traffic. Or the track.
And how often is that for a daily driver?
dude, i drive the celica 5days a week to work (when its running! lol!)

the 1g has plenty of torque and power off boost (in an 1100kg celica atleast!!)

No doubt dude, it's an awesome engine for the Celicas.

Problem is the engine matched to the weight of an GA70, not the engine itself.

Yup! it does. Because it has expanded it is less dense! I read somewhere that when it is in its hot expanded state, even though the volume is greater, because the density is lower it flows better. It makes sense theorticly, I was just wondering if anyone can comment as to how usefull it is in application!!

That is the point I was trying to make last night... You just put it better I'll measure it up later to confirm it

The same could be said of most turbo exhaust housings, they're a lot smaller than most exhausts.

Most of the plugs I've found that are the right model for the 1G come with 1.1mm gaps, and ideally the GTE should have a 0.8mm gap. Sorry, I missed that with my previous response.

    Thanks lads
Karma either way we both after the same thing lolll, I hope so hopefully we get the right answer cheers matey
Also I decided to go with jcmf earlier advice as to not going mandrel beds after the cat, cause it made sense about the gases cooling down a fair bit while in the cat converter and hence not needing much room to flow down towards the exit/muffler which is why mandrel bends is not necessary,
But what frank says about the turbo exhaust being smaller than the main exhaust itself makes sense as to why you couldn’t go 3 inch
Jcmf thanks matey so im aiming for 0.8MM gap I dunno what in there atm but will get my mechanic to check and re gap them
Ive been also told that the 22 dollar iridium or platinum ones don’t need re gapping blah, blah etc is that true ?????

That probe thing is the sensor we were talking a bout earlier. I think it is the cat temp sensor, for the cat overheating warning light. (It has to be!) some muppet at toyota told me it was a second lambda sensor, but I don't believe him!!!

Car isn't new enough to have a second lambda sensor. It's definetly a temp sensor for the cat.

Because an overheating cat 1) doesn't work properly, and 2) is likely to fail entirely

    Cat?????? Whats that?

JustCallMeFrank Thanks for confirming that anyway... I knew the guy at toyota was talking shyte.

I must admit even when I had a cat, I never got the light to light up... Mayeb our climate has something to do with it too!!!!

If I disconnect the thing from teh loom (there isa plug under the carpet) am I likely to get any error codes?

i used to run a 440hp gt2871r on my 1g, spool was fantastic on 15psi, absolutly killed the stock turbos and made it a quick street car but seeing as your car is a ga70 upgrade path, drop in a 1jz, its way better motor and gives you the torque you need to get it of the line

Funniest post I've made in a while (admittedly, that's probably not saying much), and not so much as a giggle.... sigh.
