Do you own a turbocharged car to drive around off boost? If you wanted to drive around off boost you'd buy a larger NA car...Originally Posted by Nark

Maybe I'm growing old.
But even when I'm driving quickly in traffic, I reckon I'd only spend 10% of the time on boost. If that.
Think about it, the only time you use boost is when you're accelerating, and it doesn't take long to accelerate to the speed limit. The rest of the time is off boost. Unless you want to drive around in 2nd gear (which I occasionally do).
The only time when off boost performance doesn't count is when you're on a twisty bit of road with no traffic. Or the track.
And how often is that for a daily driver?

turbo and off boost shouldn't exist in the same sentence.....

Nark...what exactly is it you're trying to say? I rarely use full boost no, things tend to appear very quickly. Do I use boost at all? Sure I do. That's the whole reason I have a turbo, if I need it, I use it. Provided i'm not pottering around under 2000rpm if I want to accelerate I apply a little more right foot (yes, more than I would in an NA car) and let the turbos spool to move the car faster.Originally Posted by Nark
There is no point to driving off-boost, because if I wanted performance without a turbo i'd get a bigger engine.

What I'm saying is that a JZA70 would be better than a GA60 with a big single.

Depends if you're talking a Strad big single, or the two I was mentioning. Then the comparison becomes vague as well, because the GA60 would be a shitload faster.

Either one really, I wouldn't go for a GT40 unless it was for racing.
But even the GT28 making 200kW, I'd rather a JZA70 and boost it up. Won't make as much power but it'd better to drive around without needing boost everywhere.
Remember, we're not talking about 1200-1400kg A6s here, we're talking about 1600-1800kg A7s.

Define "better to drive around". Why would it be better to drive around? What appeal does driving off boost afford?
MA70 is 1575kg, GA70's are in the 1400's.

Because you don't have to constantly wring the car's neck to get anywhere?Originally Posted by JustCallMeFrank
That may be fun when you're in the mood, but can get annoying when you're not.

i think i would put a 1 or 2j in there too, with the type of car you have, but its personal opinion i guess, i got a single turbo 1g and when its running its a good thinglol
