Surge is not an issue on the road. But when you want to take it around a race track thats a different story!
I feel like in general you guys might be leaning towards going a bit over the top IMHO
Personally I would much rather have one in tank pump as this is going to be more reliable than either multiple pumps in parallel (how will you know when one fails / gets tired?!), and also a lift / high pressure pump...
Being an EFI fuel tank the fuel tank is already designed to have a high pressure pump in it, so I don't understand why surge will be an issue for a correctly mounted upgraded intank pump. AE82's didn't suffer from fuel surge in factory form as far as I'm aware?
Cheers
Wilbo

Great info everybody
I plan on attacking the chicken twisties with this car so I think I will go with my original plan of a swirl tank fed by the stock pump and most likely a Bosch 044.
I will look into the Fuellab pressure reg also Bazda.
im running rx7 550's at 60psi at full boost (20psi) with a aeromotive regulator.
1 carter low psi high flow lift pump
1 044
surge tank
this will supply fuel for 400hp at the treads.
040 and 044 arnt the same, 044 flows more.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.
o rry? according to whom? my parts supplier and the bosch website both say they have identical specs.....
according to my bosch supplier.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.
hrm, so one of our suppliers is wrong![]()
haha yeh.
im pretty sure the 044 is bigger, ive always known it to be.

Fairly different specs. I use an 023 instead of an 040.
What wilbo666 said many of the setups mentioned are over the top. A walbro 255 will run 800cc injectors is cheap bolts in the tank and therfore fairly quiet. I use a carter black and an 044 in my race car which is over the top and it sounds like a jet taking off when you fire the pumps up, would hate to have it in a street car. Charade 16v setup sounds rediculous unless you are planing to make over 400rwkw with a 4agte.
I run standard regulators I don't see a problem unless it starts to not flow enough and pushes the fuel pressure to high, have never seen this problem with 800cc injectors
senn, RX7 injectors come in top feed 11mm in either high or low impedence depening on the series i.e series 4 = low, series 5 = high. if you have side feed these can usally be modified fairly easy to flow higher

probably the 20v ones cos they are sidefeed afaik. But there is a good selection of injectors for these too![]()
Bought a Walbro GSS-341 intank today, decided to leave the swirl and external for later, just want to get this thing up and running.
Went the Walbro as it was on the shelf, had a better fitting kit and was $50 cheaper than the Bosch.
Will the stock 1.1 regulator handle just over 20psi???
Or am I best to get a rising rate jobbie?
fuel tuning will be a hell of a lot easier with a 1:1 reg, you wont have to deal with varied fuel pressure which also screws with dead time.
