    Default Fuel system advice.

Ok, since i have lost my job i have been using my spare time to improve my hilux.

Recently i have been having fuel pumps issues and the car leaning out.
I have finally soughted all problems, and have had interesting suggestions made to me to my new mechanic to improve upon the system i currently have and make it more enjoyable.

The mechanic i am now using is very helpful, and has plenty of experience when it comes to high performance cars and tuning them with great success. He helped me work out why my fuel system was having the problems i was having a major rescriction in the fuel setup. The answer is "overkill" on the pumps. He suggested i remove 1 of the 2 044s i am currently running which inturn will help fix my fuel issues i have had since day dot.

The reason behind me originally installing 2 fuel pumps was "it is required for the power you want to achieve (450kw - eventually)". So on this advice i did so.

But now hearing i can cleanup alot of my minor issues, and increase my fuel economy by removing the pump and simplifying the whole fuel system, which is very interesting and kind of makes alot of sense.

I would like to see others opinions on going back to single pump

If your fuel pressure regulator is working correctly (and sized correctly to flow the required return fuel) then your fuel rail pressure shouldn't change from factory and your economy shouldn't be effected.

You will be heating the fuel as it goes from the pump to the rail -> FPR -> tank in a big loop, but other than that...

At the same time if you only need the fuel supply that one pump can provide (currently) it should be pretty easy for you to disconnect power to one of your pumps

    Cheers
