No criticism River just noting the difference of your needs and why then your rationale on the subject of flywheels is fine we have own own version down here in Canberra....goes by the name of Mitch and the days his 3TGT sees more than 3500rpm are the days he has let one of us take it for a spin

History of 200kph flybys suggest otherwise although not so much these days, so maybe i'll just sit at 3rd wheel

If your plenum is getting that hot, then it will be transferring that heat into the air that feeds your engine. Typically the IAT does include a plastic insulator by design to provide an electrical isolation (it should be a two wire device after all), which should also provide some heat isolation. I would start by directing more air past your turbo and down under the car. Remove the heat from the engine bay, and you will remove it from the intake air.

Another option is methanol/water injection. This is a very fine mist put in before the throttle body used to cool the intake air. Do some google searching on that and you should come up with about eleventy billion options on how to set a system up, from the very simple agricultural setups, to full blown race gear.

Maybe what i need is a plastic insulator that isolates the sensor from the manifold. Anyone know of anything like that off the shelf or will i be making one myself?

Im gonna build a 18rgu Blowtrough carb turbo just for fun, with stock bottom and top.
But i have a few questions. I have heard that i need a swirl pot, but is that necessary just to drive on Low boost?
And do i need carbs designed for pressure or can i use stock solex carbs?

I suspect it won't be fun and if you are asking those kinds of questions this is a proj well out of your league...Not meaning to criticise, just trying to save you heartache and wasted $$$.

A pressure referenced fuel reg for sure (low pressure referenced too which are hard to find)... But not a rising rate reg. no need for the rate to rude when feeding a carbie, just need fuel pressure increase to match boost pressure increase with around a 4 psi differential...maybe a tad more if the car is making decent power.

It should be fine. Just be aware the ignition advance will be more aggressive than you will want, so drive it gently to avoid detonation.

It'll be strong enough, it just has the wrong adv curve in it. You can adjust to get less adv overall but that will make it very doughy off boost. I just had mine rebuilt with a boost suitable adv curve.

It might be completely fine, just keep a close ear out for det as the stock pistons won't last long
