Yeah forging is something different again. It basically forces a grain like structure into the material and puts a big compression into the surface. Like shot peening but a lot better.

Definitly safe well, as I said earlier, most rod failures are from either bad tuning or oil starvation. Get those right and forged rods should happily outlive the rest of the motor even with a constant flogging.

Okay guys, Toysport finally tested the pump kind of. I shot them messages like every 2 weeks since last October. Last I got about 2 months ago, was they ran it on with a drill at 1000 rpms, but not fast enough to test the full pressure it will build. Then 2 weeks ago, they told me they were going to use it on a build. I told them I would need it back as reference for the machinist for the first batch. They replied they would just send it back. I asked if it was tested, since they were willing to use it in a build and and got a reply:

    it tested ok for pressure

    will ship tomorrow

    I just got in today

I'm trying to get clarification, but I'd really to have it tested by someone who will actually communicate back results of a test in a motor. I would not feel comfortable prodcucing the kits based on the above results. So today I finally have the pump back in my hands! We are back to needing someone reliable to test. I'm checking in the US, as it would be more convenient, but I'm open to sending it to AU in order to get this project moving again!

It's holding my build up as well.

    HELP

    Clarification just in:

we tested the pump at 3500 rpm sustained on 30 weight oil

I still think we need it tested on a motor and feeback of PSI vs RPM.

    Thoughts?

Edit - Just got a reply to my post on 1GC from Toysport:

I actually tested one of the prototypes. Great machined pieces. I was not able to test (and compare) material hardness.... had it on a low mileage RC (on a break-in bench) at a local machine shop- and there were no issues (binding, or whatever) so it works; we also tried testing at about 3500 RPM sustained (off a bucket of 30 weight oil), tore it down, inspected the gears- again no issues

These pumps are designed for volume > rather than pressure. So depending on the relief spring used (whether stock or uprated) it will be fine. the stock RG pressure setting is fine, there is no need to up the pressure. adding volume always helps....

    Hi,

I'll give you another year and then offer to buy it from you cheaply, as I doubt it'll ever get into a car.

I'll put it in that RA28GT of Lambo's... as that's not progressing very far also. I am makiing cheap offers on that too.

hehehehe to the pair of youse!!!

    -adjustable cam gears
-Fidanza alloy flywheel and 3400lbs clutch
    -knifed edged crank
    -t04 turbo
    -forged 92.5mm pistons

i didnt mention what was done to the rod:stroke ratio though
Rods lengthened, and reduced piston pin-to-crown height, reducing overall piston height/weight and doing other funky stuff to rod/crank angles.

Turbo is a turbonetics ceramic ball bearing TN450.

It sounds like the ratio is leaning heavily towards the stroking side of things.

... i just found a bunch of pics i had stored

First up we have the lovely forged pistoons.

.... the bottom end that will hopefully never break.

.... as good a pic as i have right now showing port work on the intake. Basically a clean up, and enlarging the bowl behind the valve, whilst maintaing the radius on the lower port wall

.... and where it currently lives.

    Hi,

Indeed, I like a lightweight box also, but sometimes I think a more robust one is a good thing.
