Default 1UZ oil filter mounting options

I've run into a bit of a problem with my 1UZ Hilux project - the alloy oil filter mounting bracket thingy puts the filter in a very inconvenient position close to the chassis rail, making it impossible to fit any sort of filter there. So I purchased a relocation kit but even then clearance is very tight (see attached photos), and while I might be able to squeeze in some -10 lines and fittings I'm worried there won't be enough clearance if/when the engine moves around under power.

So I'm wondering if there are different alloy bracket thingys for the 1UZ which might move the filter to a more convenient location? I know the JZ series engines have at least two different filter locations so I'm hoping the UZ series is the same.

Any thoughts/recommendations appreciated, I'm a bit stumped at this point. Even if anyone knows of a different style of relocation kit which has the lines coming out the side, that would be OK too.

Thanks for that. It's hard to tell from that photo but it looks pretty similar to what I have already? I'm hoping to find one which mounts the filter closer to the block, although seeing the location of the AC compressor that may not be possible.

Hmmm, found this little gem in the above thread:

One of those would be absolutely perfect. Now who here has access to a CNC mill?

actually your right it does look the same.

its a pity cruzidas pics dont work anymore, i was pretty sure the one in the cressida was more compact and different design to the pics. I'll have a look tonight when I get home.

Took me a while to find this pic. It's how I did the oil filter relocation in my mates 1UZ tonner. Cut off the mount and left the end part that bolts to the block, then welded a couple of alloy fittings to it to accept hydraulic fittings.

I had one of those bad boys machined up on Christmas eve a few years back. Cost me nigh on $300 for the joy of firing up my 1UZ in the Crown.

ive got a oil housing that points forward whereas your one points back. z125 fits perfectly. ground the spacer/crush tube back level with the chassis and turned the bolt around. filter spins on and off easily. i'll email you a photo if you pm me your address.
ill have a look for a spare if you want to swap

Steve aka cyberdiamond on www.v-eight.com had them made up locally - we use one on our track car to clear the swaybar etc and it was very well made and works very well.
