I originally did something like that when I did my first conversion.

Its made much much easier when you have a UZS131 setup to begin with though.

After running with that for a while (and having it annoy the shit out of me - also it didn't clear the AC compressor when I wanted to reinstall that) someone put me on to the 2UZ Landcruiser system

Fit like a treat and cleared everything.
Very similar to the UZZ30 Soarer setup, but gives it a slightly different twist so it was able to clear the swaybar.

FYI Norbie, you have a standard LS400/Celsior/front sump setup.

UZS131 Crown/mid sump goes to the back of the block as per my pic (FYI the bit that drops down to clear the engine mount goes below the line of the sump, so if you have only have 10mm between the sump and the crossmember she won't fit - hence why I modified it)

UZZ30 Soarer/rear sump goes straight forward and the filter goes out at right angles towards the chassis rail

2UZ Landcruiser is very similar but has a slight twist as per the above pic.

Thanks for the info guys, I have lots of options now! The Soarer/Landcruiser setup looks like it would probably work fine but I don't like my chances of finding one of these second-hand, and I don't even want to know what a new one would cost. I'm quite liking the ghetto-spec method of hacking the stock mount in half and welding stuff to it, why didn't I think of that!

    EDIT: thanks Ed, PM sent.

The landcruiser one cost me under $100 brand new from Toyota. ($87 I think, plus $8 for the o-ring)
That was obviously trade, but just trade through my local, not CHT or NZ type trade.

The only problem with those little bolt on plates is it leaves VERY little room to tighten up two -10 fittings.

I'm also pretty sure I have a spare UZZ30 setup sitting on the shelf

    Yep same ones.

I tried looking for one of these and couldn't find anything decent. Didn't want to use silicon to seal it like the Lextreme one. I had phoned Bullet at the time and they did not have anything.

So I decided to get my local machinist that I use to make lots of my parts to make me exactly what I wanted but it was not cost effective as gianttomato found out at nearly $300. I figured if I needed one then other people would and had him make a fair few at once to bring each one down to a reasonable cost.

I am on here just, not that often.

Here's what I just knocked up for mine.

Not bad actually. The hoses are a little long, and the pipes still are too, but it didnt' cost me a thing and it's functional!

That did cross my mind. So I was plannign to test it.

That said, I've spoken to the guys at HIS Hose, and they have suggested it might be ok, given how hard it was to get the hose on (and subsequently can't get it off again.)

It might act like the push on barbed fittings do

We'll see though, if not, it's off to get barbed fittings.

If not you run the risk of engine bay oil fire, spinning into a tree etc

yeah, you have a good point.

I will be testing it at Idle in the next few days, and see if it's got the slightest leak

I will then probably have my concience get the better of me and I'll go get the barbed pressure appropriate fittings for it.
    :-)

Seeing as the whole reason I need the stupid thing was to avoid a different oil fire in the first place!!!

At the very least, I'd be concerned about using them without a ridge or hump for them clamp against. As is, there is nothing to stop them bar their tension against where the clamp is itself.

Other than the fact that I can't pull them off for love nor money. :-)

I think I'll get a lip rolled onto them so the hose clamp has something to clamp against.
