probably blown an intercooler pipe off - check all your hose clamps
Ok so i have just purchased a 1J Cressida and it has been running fine not missing a beat but today when i left work i mashed second gear when it was on high boost (16psi) and everything seemed fine till i backed off then, the idle dropped from the usual 1200 rpm to 500rpm and black smoke now blows out the exhaust on idle and when driving. It also won't rev past 4000 rpm in any gear and is a bit spluttery as well at about 2-3000rpm.
I'm thinking it has to be electrical like a sensor or something but i am no mechanic and not 100% sure. I pretty sure it's not a blown turbo because the smoke isn't white and with a blown turbo it will still rev fine and i don't think it would be airflow meter either, but once again i'm not really sure.
Just looking for some imput to see if you guys have had this problem before or if anyone knows what it is. thanks help appreciated!

after my 1j conversion I had a plug spare too.... can't remember what it was for. A/T?
the map sensor line will be coming off your plenum - just check all those vac hoses are attached at both ends![]()
That plug is for the traction control loom, usually an orange plug that comes out of the engine loom.
Map sensor should be in the bay, in a jzx81 it's bolted to the bracket the ignitor bolts to, which is bolted to the passenger side of the firewall.
Hey thanks for the help people i found the problem you guys were right it was the Map Sensor Line it had just popped off. once again thanks for the help!!![]()
