EDIT: Does anybody know if the IHI unit can be taken apart? Reason being I want to get as much of it as possible ceramic coated before it gets fitted to the car.
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.

The IHI unit can be stripped down, but I believe there would be some tricks and special tools needed along the way. PSE off a service to rebuild the IHI units, so maybe if you ask them nicely they will give you a rough guide to tear down.

What was the price tag on the S5-335? Anything under $2k I'd find reasonable for the performance of the unit and in comparison to a competing class turbo.

nah, even with the oil filter there it can be done reasonably easy. but yes remote mounting does it makes it better. you can do it with the a/c compressor there too.

most the posts you've read about people saying how hard it is are from people that have never tried it.

i spoke with Hi performance this arvo, they are $3300 for the LYS120 AX.......OUCH !

it does seem to have possibilities tho, and at that price could still possibly be cheaper than the turbo, especially if i can mount it in basically the same location as the SC12 (and use the factory GZ inlet manifold...........................

Ouch indeed, but at the same time, I don't think a brand spanking new SC12 or SC14 from Toyota would be much cheaper.

EDIT: Actually, having a look over at toyodiy, it would cost around $4000 to buy a new SC12!

Probably cheaper to buy one straight from Ogura.

    if they still make them........

scott if you go twinscrew/turbo i would look into upgrading your manifold/throttle body. by all accounts the stock gze ones are pretty chat, so it would be worth at least having a look into how you could upgrade them. most people seem to go either custom plenum or 4AGE.

Low/mid response was amazing though but when you're out on wakefield and not doing anything below 4500+ then you can afford to lose a bit of that low down response which to be honest was a little annoying as you'd be making instant boost on hill starts etc which was painful when in the wet during peak hour.

I'd rather spend a bit more and source something like a VF34 which would have a bit more top end, yet still retail similar response since they're ball bearing. But if you're goign to be shelling out for a brand new turbo then 2560 etc.

    just my $0.02
VF34 or a 35 would be ideal on a GTE setup I think. Agreed TD04 is not really meant to run past 16psi... great spool up and mid range through (even better on a 2L EJ20)!

You can get the IHI range through CGC I think, new and recoed.

    I was looking at a 35 or reco'ed 29..

The 29 is the one off the Sti. (it was at one point at least)

knitrous, thanks for the link, the real question is tho WHERE CAN YOU GET THE PARTS FROM ?

Terra, how do you get them from Oruga, have you ?

    Trdee,
i agree there are definitely some improvements to be made on the intake manny, its just how to get it all in there, i can see me loosing part of the boot..........OH WELL

Radar, CERTAINLY LOOKS LIKE A POSSIBILITY YOU GOT CURVES FOR THOSE BLOWERS, how bout an dealer in AUS. Aslo i cant beleive how cheap the kits are, i am thinking i will sell the adub and get myself a Corvette or somfin............

Lenjimin, appreciate the comments, funny what about butting an EJ20 into the Adub, i love the engine note, would be a VERY interesting engine swap THATS FOR SUUUUURE !

Tom, i have actually been in a couple of subies. One mate had the original STI 2 door and oz delivered one with a few bits and peices in it. Was making about 180 at the treads on 17 PSI. was a great car (still is) but it was pretty ghey below 3-4 grand

    Same as this >> http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...door&trecs=396

Those part numbers on the ToyoDIY are all Toyota part numbers, so I would assume you could hit Toyota up for the parts. They might have some stock since the 4AGZE was still made up to around 1995? I know someone ended up getting a brand new AW11 bonnet from Toyota, despite the car production finishing up in 1989....

Ogura have the chargers still listed on both their Japanese and American websites, so I guess it's just a matter of contacting their sales department???
