Sounds promising, the guy im buying the bellhousing off just took a quick rough measurement and came back with 150mm.. So may be in the ballpark.

So I give you crank face to block measurement.
Would it help to have -
Flywheel face to block
Or pressure plate forks to block?
I need to rotate the adapter 12 degrees.

Ok got some measurements.
The crank face sits 6.8mm proud of the bellhousing face.
The flywheel is 39mm from crank face to clutch plate face.

Forgot to mention.. The gearbox leans over to the driver side..
So if looking at the input shaft/front of the gearbox, it would need to rotate 12 deg clockwise.

easy... its about 1.5mm more than a 1UZ
...so for a w58 youll want the combined depth of the bellhousing and adapter to be between 164mm and 166mm. now to see what the auto bellhousing depth is
so, *at the moment* does the shift lean to the passenger side or the drivers side? and you reckon its 12deg? you want it corrected to midline?

Hey mate, yeah it leans to the driver side.. So needs to rotate clockwise on the adapter plate if looking at the front of the box.
I'll have the bellhousing tonight so give an accurate depth measurement.
Looking more and more like you may be able to add another adapter to your collection for 1mz w58.
The only unknown at the moment is where it is going to want to put the starter motor...
Hey Ed, the 3vz bellhousing is 140mm in depth.
Just checking that the adapter plate will fit it, i took a real quick measurement of distance between bolt holes where it would bolt to the gearbox/adapter.
Top 2x holes 140mm apart
Middle 2x holes 235mm apart
Bottom two holes 222mm apart
Sound right?
Also took a more accurate measurement of the angle and it is actually 11 deg, not 12 sorry.
So reckon you can come up with something that will work? Im keen to get moving on this quickly. Let me know if I should be purchasing a design from paypal.
On another note, starter motor will be ok except its kinda moved down a bit lower so due to this i've removed excess material from the block around the top of the starter and not enough below it. So if it was to be done again this should change.

One other thing, I dont know if this is standard with the 1uz auto bellhousings that you've made adapters for..
But the 6x holes that are used to bolt bellhousing to gearbox, are not inline with the holes that bolt the bellhousing to the block.
Confusing.. so lets say the 2x holes that are used to bolt the bellhousing to the block at the top of the block, and if we use these holes as a starting point to get everything level and straight, the 2 top holes to bolt the gearbox onto bellhousing would be probably 10 deg or so offset..

Now funny enough if the holes for gearbox to bellhousing are meant to be on a flat horizontal plane with your adapter plate, then your adapter plate very well may not need any change at all.. As the top 2x bolt holes are perfectly horizontal when the bellhousing is bolted to the engine..
That does seem random with the bellhousing rotated like that, as if the 3VZ-E was installed on a tilt.

That makes a bit of sense, Joel.
The 5VZ was a RWD config & shares the bellhousing/engine pattern with the 3VZ & 1MZ.
The engine is canted over in the FWD models so that they fit into the engine bay better. I noticed that the V6s are not tilted as much as the inline 4s.
Maybe if you can get hold of a Prado bellhousing & it happens to bolt upto the W58 (I'm not sure what box is in the Prado), then it may straighten everything up anyway.
BTW, I've got access to an A0 scanner at work.
I've done a tracing of the E151 gearbox face & also a 2GR-FE block, which I'm aiming to get into CAD (scanned in as JPG & then trace over the top).
If you can get some tracings done, I could possibly do the same for other combos.
Edit: just noticed that the pic is of the RWD casing...
Just out of interest, weren't there 2 different UZ bellhousings (U1 and U2) with one being on a slant? I'm sure the adaptor plates sold by Choke on the Smoke Racing in Rotorua NZ ask you to specify which one you have.
