    Default My 7MGE Build

    Hey guys

Well i was planning on selling the cressida and possiably buying a supra, but than came the thoughts of how much i love my cressida and how i can comfortably carry four people in luxury :d

So now i wanna go for a 5 speed conversion aswell which i have much researched and feel comfortable with what is needed for the conversion.

So i wanna build a high comp 7mge i was thinking around 10.5:1 or therebouts the reason for me building the 7m and not going 1/2jz

Is im a p plater, so no tur-bros allowed and i can do all the machine work myself and free of charge

So is it possible to bump the compression up this high and still retain factory managment?

Also if anyone can provide me and sites or anything like that for for info regarding people with expericence building high come 7mges ?

Also im thinking oil pump mods possibly seeing as though bottem end bearings are a pretty commen problem?

    Thanks Luke

Supramania has a section dedicated to the 7mge engine.

    http://www.supramania.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=83

IMHO you will get more gains from improved breathing than from high compression ratios with the 7M.

    In order of priority.

    1. Headers
    2. Throats. Some attention is required to the valve throats and valve seat areas due to less than ideal factory machining.
    3. Chambers. Deshrouding of the intake valves.
    4. Ports are allready too big so dont do anything there.
    5. Cam upgrade.

take 40thou off head and block and it should be pretty good. will always need good fuel or better yet LPG

if its a series 2 it will ping under light load and really give you the shits

i had around 50thou off mine and ran factory management for years but cracked the shits in the end and went for gas, best thing i did for it.

u can shim the oil pump drive for more pressure but remember more pressure = less flow

Find eds 7mge thread for his ma61 supra, that was close to as good as a 7m NA gets.

It was also a pig on the standard ecu, massive flat spot between 3000-4000rpm as the ecu had NFI what was going on. That probably had more to do with the intake work ie twin throttle bodies & ported head then the compression though.
    If in doubt power out

    Hurricane extractors
    ported head, standard valves
    2 1/2" mandrel bent exhaust
    free flow cat
    stronger valve springs
    BC264 cams
    adj. cam gears

Leave the oil pump alone just run good oil & change on a very regular basis.

My auto 7MGE Cressida made 128rwkw with above mods on a stock ECU.

Save your money, wait until you are off your p's, and then go nuts.

cos its just not possible to go fast unless you have a turbo around here!

Which would be just as illegal as a turbo...

Ok thanks for the input guys well i think i have figured out what i wanna do:

    Find another 7mge

Do a full recondition (get it balanced also ) and bump the comp up just a little bit.
Aswell as fit extractors and clean up inlet ports, and a "performance valve seat job"

Than stick it back in with a 5 speed

What do you guys think about getting the stock cams reground? Or would it be more sensible just buying a set of brian crower cams?

good plan. very similar to my setup which goes quite well for what it is. keep all the clearances nice and tight.
try and get the 225mm flywheel so it spins up nice and quick and a 6m crank is a bonus too.

i am going to use ground cams in my 5/7m race motor. bc's are supposed to be real good but they are pretty exxy.
if u grind them u have to use custom thicker shims OR my current plan is to go OS valves in the head and use a longer stem length to make up what was ground off the cams. i am in the process of choosing a factory valve to use to avoid getting custom ones made (not that expensive anyway). vg30, sr20, 3sgte & ej20 jobies all look to be in the ballpark of what is going to work. more to follow shortly.
my cam bloke is looking at grinding the stockers to 9.5mm lift and 272 or 280 duration. next step is to take em down to him and get em done so i know what valve stem length to go for.

5 speed conversion will give you the best bank-for-buck in that list.

Yeah indeed it will, But my last bhg the 7mge got so hot that it sized so the motor has defiantly seen better days, The main reason for me building another 7m is piece of mind that it is 100% and that i should do me until i goto my black license

Dont think its possible to grind the stockers to a 9.5mm lift & standard lift is less than 8mm.
