hey luke
rev limit delete comes standard with LPG conversion
as for the cam timing i am currently using the adjustable gears i made for my race motor as some product testing before they go into mass production
pm me if you are interested in a set
Sounds good Andrew using aftermarket cam gears I assume ? Also how did you eliminate the rev limiter? I would like mine to goto 7000+ as the motor would be capable![]()
also the engine tone sounds heaps better my old stocker sounded horrible at 5000+

stock cams. pulls strong to 7500rpm with 425 mixer. its just over half a tooth so about 4degrees.
currently deciding whether to put the rest of the gear in this motor for testing or build a slapper for the gold car. big cams in the daily would make it a real pig...

4cam degrees is 8 crank degrees. Just fit a bigger intake cam and get a bit of overlap back. Then you will get a good top end and a good midrange. Don't bother with the exhaust.
meh this thing doesnt need to be any quicker, it ate up a new v6 hilux yesterday (2gr-fe?) and those things fucking fly. im happy enough.

Bit of a update (finally) after 1500 kays blew the standard clutch, right now I have an exedy button clutchI have gotten rid of the rev limiter ,
Pulls nicely to 7000 rpm (thanks to amachie) and keeps going after that
What I want to do now is find some sort of aftermarket ecu/piggyback to tune it (it runs hell rich lol!
I was thinking some sort of map ecu or hks vpc but I'm a noob when it comes to do this stuff haha so if someone could point me in te right direction that would be great!
Cheers luke
have you tried fucking with the spring tension in the AFM? you can pull some fuel out that way but obviously not as good as an aftermarket ecu

was it a standard or heavy duty organic clutch plate you blew?

It was a pbr heavy duty lol
I've played with the afm screw thingy but I'm not totally convinced,
Cheers Luke
Ps I would like to get some cam gears in the coming weeks how are they going?
oh balls! i knew there was a reason i went straight to the button lol
the screw on the afm only adjusts idle mixture, take the black cover off and play with the spring tension on the flap for cruise/power mixture. its crude but you will get a bit out of it.
cam gears are coming along well, just have to slot the adjustment holes and degree mark them (waiting on gear for this) now, hopefully 1-2 weeks. i have already put a set aside for u![]()

Andrew i tried to do the afm trick but I have no idea how to lol! Care to fill me in ?
Cheers luke
hey mate its pretty easy. first you need to cut the silicone that holds the black plastic cover and gently pry it off with a flat blade.
once its open all you are trying to do it change the spring tension on the flap. by adding spring tension the flap is harder to open and the computer will think there is less air being used so will drop the amount of fuel accordingly. if you go the other way, and make the spring easier to open it will get richer.
cbf finding an open one in the shed to take a pic so i googled instead:
use a texta to mark the "tension gear ring" against something known so you know where you started.
take small screwdriver A and use it to hold the tension gear ring so it doesnt slip
take small screwdriver B and pry the "tension lock" off the teeth so you can move the ring back or forward a couple of clicks.
now just root around with it til u get the mixtures a bit better then glue the black cover back on when you are done (or not, just dont get the inside of it wet)

Nice pic. One extra thing to remember.
Tighter spring results in leaner mixtures and more timing advance.
Looser spring results in richer mixtures and more timing retard.
So when you tighten it to get the mixture correct you may need to adjust the static advance also to get the timing right. I would recommend you start by tightening by two clicks and then see if it pings under load.
