make a new base to mount the side mounts on

huh?
the only problem i see happening is that the floor of the car isn't level.so i would either have to make some kind of box section to fit it. just wondering what anyone else has done

yeh tell me about it.
how has everyone else "legally" done this though?

bride rails.
the way my pro2000 is mounted is using the L rails then large round alloy spacers sit between the floor and the seat rail
Because they cant use the original mount a steel plate is welded to the underside of the floor for added support, and then large and long high tensile nuts and bolts hold it all together,
ill find a pic, it may be easier to explain.
Ben.
do u want it to slide or want it to be mounted in one spot?
get some momo/bride/sparco etc etc or get a local mob to make up a set.
bit better if its tilted slightly back anywho...
see your engineer and ask what he will certify![]()

hahaha the car hasn't seen an engineer yet, but it should be ok.
i know bride make a sliding bolt in side mount, but there a bit exxy. do any other brand make one that will bolt in?
i had a look today and there is a few ways i can do it

Slidng bases are for those that are weak.
Weld some sections of strip and angle iron together so they mount to the factory bolt holes in the floor and give you two level sections of angle iron. Weld the sidemounts to this. Bolt seat to the sidemounts. Sit in it and enjoy.
Hen
PS this process takes way longer than it sounds.
so basically your saying to make a mount to mount the side mount rails (too many mounts...)
would height be a problem with this though?

No. Height isn't a problem. My seat sits about as low as it possibly can at the back (almost on the floor).
I'm 6' 5" and I can fit in a Sprinter with a helmet on.
Basically your options are: Fork out for a brand name mount or weld one up yourself (which is a time consuming affair)
yeah, im thinking about trying a custom one (can't hurt).
do you know if the rail has to be mounted so that both the front and rear (on one side) connects, or can they be seperate? (so that you have 4 seperate mounts instead of 2). i know at the end of the day an engineer's word id final, but at least someone might have done this before.
thanks for the help but guys
edit: im thinking about trying to make the original mounts into a sliding side mount, the only problem with this is that i think the seat will sit too high. but then again, the grinder/welder is mightier than the keyboard.
