I'll be travelling alone aswell as far as I can see. So if Matt doesn't want it and anyone feels like making the trip over lemme know.

Regular unleaded? I don't put anything but U98 into my 1JZ.
So if there aren't many BP's or at the very least Caltex's for not so good Vortex I'll have to take a few bottles of octane booster along.

I've never really paid attention to the economy and mileage of my Soarer. The fuel gauge sender doesn't work anymore anyway so no fuel guage for me at the moment untill I source another one.
I put 20 bux in every second day which gets me 60 kilometres, that's 2 trips to work and 2 trips home.

Okay, Perth to Sydney is 4110 kilometres. So based on $1.40/L that I paided yesterday for U98 it'll cost me $1370 in fuel just to get to Syndey, $2740 in total fuel plus what ever else in driving in Sydney.
    Hmm... *ponders*

You've never driven long distances have you?! Be thankful most fuel stops carry premium out there, cos BP's stocking 98 are few and far between! You'll also pay around 10c/L more for premium too out there. Finally don't forget your city and country mileage will vary quite noticably!

Well I've personally driven to Exmouth in my old Calibra. With my parents and their cars I've been as far north as Broome, south to Albany and east to the WA/SA border petrol station when we stayed in Eucla.

    Well sounds like a plan,

I will definatly join the convoy, hard to tell from the map but looks like you will be passing by good old Wagga? Will have had the GZE in for a while before the trip up to syd. Looking forward to it!

I would suggest for radios the Uniden brand, vary in price, from 100-150, with a 5km range. We used them from Syd to Jindabyne, very reliable. Plus they seem to work with other brands fairly well.

We'll speak to Witzl and Toobs regarding radios. I'll try to come up with a map soon. I'm going to update the main post with the dates too.

    http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?p=37031

i may be up for this.. will see if i can get the leave sorted first (and if the gf is going to whinge about me going 2nd..)

im going to need to do some serious suspension work prior however because its a rough road and i'll definitely feel it as will most of us. new bushings / joints are definitely on the cards..

GF thing : been there , done that , i won

Suspention thing : i need some new everything before i go ...

damn bank taking all my money for the loan i got to get my car :S:S:S:S but hopefully after my B-day that loan will be gone , and that gives me several $1k's worth of paychecks to play with

the way i see it , ill have my $1.8k loan paid off by may, i get paid fortnightly, so that gives me 2 weeks of may = $1.3k then Jun,Jul,Aug,Sep = 8 x 1.3k pays

i think ill afford LCD + TVIX PC + Suspention by then

edit: lookie lookie what i found

Was thinking about this more last night. How about we get a show of hands for those people who would be interested in driving through Melbourne and possibly Canberra on the way there?
