i would be surprised if that feature wasnt standard and or preconfigured in all aftermarket ecu's these days, and even more surprised if this type of performance and safety feature wasnt used in every oem ecu in production.
cant quite remember but i think even the pfc did timing and fuel compensation for air temp and water temp by default.
I think (along with boost cut) its one of the most important features to configure on any high performance forced induction car, or any car for that matter...
admittedly I never got to exploit these features as I turned them all off for the tuning process, I still value them greatly for any long term tune where id be taking the car to a circuit track.

It is available in every aftermarket and factory ECU... even old ones.
Its a basic requirement to having a good & safe tune.

i wonder how the older 3SGTE or similar turbo ECUs do IAT compensation when they measure intake air at the AFM?

They measure air temp at the AFM.
Not ideal, but it give some correction.

yeah - i know they have the temp sensor there - am just wondering how they deal with not knowing the air-temp post turbo and intercooler.

They deal with it by running super rich on boost

so overtemp control is basically a leprechaun in the engine bay pouring buckets of fuel into the motor

    hey guys,

hope this is the right place to post, you all seem to know your stuff.
    the specs:
    MA61
    1jzgte(stock everything)
    EMB
    bosch 044
    800hp FPR

i dont know if the pic will help(im new to the world of "tuning" so im wanting to learn)
im running EMB(good as place to start i thought) i did a quick data log on the weekend, i think im having problems with fuel and or boost cut.
on full throttle(3rd gear pull) @ around 45-5000rpm the 1j starts to choke, boost climbs a little but no extra go, normal driving is fine, little bit of slowly increased throttle seems fine to, only when i punch it she has a brain fart and wants to give up, as soon as i back off everything is fine
im guessing its fuel related... i could be wrong

    what are your thoughts?
    cheers
If in doubt, drift her out! Steer from the rear! less traction, more action! simple!

I thought there was a thread for folks to post various maps/configs from ECUs but I can't find it. So for the time being this can live here:

    3SGE Gen3 timing map (only)
(motor is in a Spyder Silverstone (a Lotus clubman replica), fuel is via Solex Mikuni 40's with 36mm chokes)

ECU is Megasquirt V3 running MS1 Extra firmware, Four spark outputs, sequential COP using Kawasaki ZX6 coils, triggered using the 24 tooth wheel in the dizzie with one tooth removed,
    167 bhp - via a T50 gearbox!

    Only just found this thread,

and thank god, i been searching long and hard about tuning tips and so on as after i get my base map i want to start pushing the boundary of tuning my own car 1J Jzx81 running autronic the lucky side to that is autronic have knockboreds now and you can have them setup for each engine and 1JZ one will be out soon as soon as i pay the money for it and they use my car to recored knock and other random stuff. so that is my insurance to self tuning as the system will retard the timing on knock,

i use EGT and A/F guage and will be using a lot of logged data for tuning as the car is more a track car so want to be able to read the logs and understand what is going on

Just remember that knock can occur well after peak torque has come and gone, even on pump fuel. So if you tune to knock threshold, its entirely possible you will have an inferior tune with inferior peak torque and hence horsepower compared to if you tuned the car in a more conventional way.

I would recommend tuning the car on a dyno with this knock limit feature, that way you will see if you have moved past peak torque.

NO, Im just using the knock bored as a safety, it will be tuned on a dyno but will use data logs from circuit days to find issues im not after big power but more torque then anything
