They're fine for size.
Just port the pump body so the oil has an easier passage through the pump and it'll be fine. I've done a few and with small burrs it only takes an hour or two.
Anyone know of any mods to increase 4age oil pump flow? ( not pressure)I have heard that over 8000rpm oil flow can become an issue especially on boost engines.. I think i read somewhere years ago that you can use 1G-GE pump or internals or something like that?![]()

Port it where ?.
where it joins to the block or insde where the gears pump through that port? I take it i should open everywhere i can up (in moderation of course)
How big did you go?
on my new motor ill be running the feed to the thermostat straight out of the pump, bypassing the gallery in the block from the pump to the filter. this gets rids of 1 90 degree turn and should help flow a little.
ofcourse youll need to remove the pump and block the hole. and use a custom sandwich plate. maybe not an economical way to go if youve already set up and oil cooler.
yeah i have a massive oil cooler but dont run a thermostat sand plate setup.
Correct me if im wrong BUT i dont think its wise to block off the oil hole connecting the pump to the block as its a major oil supply route!
P.S by flow im actually meaning volume at high rpm dont they taper off above 8000?

Pretend it's an inlet port.![]()
fwiw, the TRD versions are just more durable material, not higher flow.

AU$TRALIA... come and stay and PAY and PAY!!! The moral high horse of the world!
the set up ill be using will have the oil flowing out of where the big grub screw is on the pump, into the thermostat, then back oiut of there into a custom sandwich plate that only has a feed.
it will be secured by an ae92 type sandwich plate oil fitting. blank on the back where it contacts the block except for a seal. it will have a feed in the side that fills the filter then into the main oil feed into the block.
i am just bypassing that gallery. it just simplifys the path of the oil, reduces the amount of speed flow i need, reduces cost, and will end up a little neater.
its been done before.
Also try and source a 20v oil pump. Their flow capacity is slightly higher than the 16v ones because it has to operate the vvt. It's a direct bolt in.

you shouldnt need to rev a boosted engine that high anyways... should you.![]()

Thanks to James Cameron's Terminator films, we know that robots are stronger, faster, tougher and more Austrian than the rest of us.
BigT: I thought 4agze oil pumps were the same as the 20v ones?
Feral4mr2: I use a big 700hp GT3540 turbo and it needs to be reved that hard to provide enough exhaust gas flow to drive the turbine so i can get the boost i need. + with such a big turbo it actually wants to rev harder but in fear of breaking something i limit it to 9000.
Yeah my 3SGTE will definately be seeing the high side of 8000rpm and it's certainly boosted. If the engine is setup to make torque at high revs then it will make a hell of a lot of power.
Sure it's not as user friendly as a small turbo that gives a nice push in the back at low revs then dies before making real power but it sure as hell is effective.
To an extent. If you have a AE101 GZE engine then you'll have the higher spec oil pump. If you have an AE92/AW11 GZE then the oil pump will be the same as the 16V variants. The EPC confirms this as well.Originally Posted by 30psi 4agte
