I am trying to use a camry shifter.. maybe this my prob? as if you pull on a camry shifter, it pushes the cable.
looking at pictures of b&m shifters they are same as a camry in that a pull down on the shifter pushes the cable.

you will probly have to mount it off the back of the shifter that way when you pull the shifter it will pull the cable, get me?

The lever you have from MV is designed for the reverse, as with the B&M ratchet, when you push the lever, it pushes the cable etc.
The lever supplied by MV may not have the correct arm length to match the ratio of your camry shifter either, so it may over/under select gears.
This is all sounding like bad news for you![]()
Just go the B&M shifter, the Coaster will love some ratchet shifting action![]()

yep, shes back the front.
either go for some fully hektic B&M goodness or mod the camry setup so the shifter comes out the back.
you could go the other way around and have the arm facing up also,
but before you proceed any further than you have, be 100% sure that the factory style shifter you are using has a gear selection of 1-1-1-1-1.5 as park-reverse must be 1.5x the movement of the other shifts if you know what i mean. ie your shifts should be 10mm-10mm-10mm-10mm-15mm from L to Park,
they dont need to be that exact number but the ratio must be correct or the gears wont always select properly or you may not be able to get it into Park.

My measurements gave me -
10mm-10mm-10mm-10mm-18mm? Not quite 15mm but maybe that is a slight inaccuracy in my measurements.
So I am thinking my best option may be to use the original selector arm on the gearbox that points upwards, with the cable coming out the front of the camry shifter.
So I need to do two things, make a bracket to hold the cable onto the gearbox and then work out where to drill the pivot hole on the arm.
damn, and here I was thinking I was just going to be able to buy the mv autos bracket kit, get a shifter, and plug all the shit in..
It appears not.

i'll probably be selling the mv bracket kit if anyone needs it as i don't think it'll suit my purpose now.
Nope, Why do you think i started this thread originally?Originally Posted by 1JZ.747
Even Mike said it may not be correct and i would have to double check it.
So in short, No it won't.
but once you have the correct length it all goes together easy enough.
