    is it ok to retorque the head with standard bolts still in the motor....

    Yes, but do it in the right order, and don't go over 80ft-lbs.

    yes it's fine.. though somewhat pointless. it's still gonna blow eventually. there's only one way to fix a 7M properly.

    are the standard bolts capable of holding 76ft lbs....


    Plus do you get the correct reading if your are torqueing something thats been torqued for 58ft lbs for years, unless you undo them all and do them again with cleaned and lubricated bolts??

    A drop of oil under the head of the bolt can help. No, it's not going to be 100% accurate...
    But neither is this conversion

    DA 12NV : I would personally take all the bolts out clean it put lube on and torque it.

    But before i do that i would take the exhaust and inlet mani off so that the weight wont lift the head (side to side)if you know what i men...You want to avoid any lifting of the head..i know for a fact that 7m has a dowl so theres not gonna be any side to side movement...

    Alternatively you can crack all the bolts and torque it down but your taking a chance here..while making sure you follow the right sequence.

    thanks neal..the motor i got is a low km import motor and i was goin to do the head up next year i gotta get the motor running and check it for warrenty purposes..this is wat i was told by the importer. if the head goes wihin the six months its there job to put the head gasket in..
