does the sluggishness go away when you go WOT?
could be a blocked main jet
or a vac hose has come off? or intake gasket gone?
my 4k ke55 has suddenly started to drive like crap! Won't idle and and is very sluggish. Today I changed the spark plugs, fuel filter and valve cover gasket and still no difference. Should I check the fuel pump or leads? Just want to get this sorted quick as this is supposed to be my reliable daily while I work on the supra. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

seconded check for shit in carb

The pump & leads will usually first cause high speed/WOT symptoms when they are under a lot more load, then at idle & part throttle accelerating to cruising.Originally Posted by supra_cam

What did the spark plugs look like? http://www.dansmc.com/Spark_Plugs/Sp...s_catalog.html
Clogged carb? Rev it to 35-4500 and block the carb intake completely, with your hand until the revs drop to about 1500 and can pick back up again, repeat. If the clog was light weight stuff, it'll be gone!![]()

does it have a anti-dieseling valve that has lost power?
check your points gap too, sounds like it might have closed up a bit.
You were right about the points gap sbfoot, it needed to be reset, the timing was waaaaaay out aswell. Also adjusted the idle screw. The only problem now is oil getting into the tunnel that the spark plugs sit in (in the back 2 cylinders). The plastic seals in the top of the tunnel have broken and will need to be replaced.
replace them with thick o-rings.. and clean up the area and use silicon..
you will never leak there again... unless you have plugged up the PCV line to under the carb.. or the PCV valve is gooped up![]()
