Check engine codes for poltergeist error. Code 666.
i think hte problem is that you cant do a proper skid with a 1g.
upgrade you engine to a jz for maximum skid powers and you will find that it wont cut out.

Like I said it wasn't during a skid that the engine turned off.
-GT- Thanks for the suggestion, since I have a flapper afm, would a sudden shock knock the flap, causing incorrect amount of fuel to be injected.
I wouldn't think that it would be the BOV, if it were the BOV it should be turning off everytime the BOV vents, but I thought about it so thanks for bringing that up.
That wasn't very helpful, the code numbers don't even go that high.Originally Posted by gianttomato

convert it to manualthat will help
ill just go ahead and assume the skidz arent on public roads

pretty sure this unique car is one of those illustrious highway racers we've been hearing about lately.
RA23 - Twincharged
JZZ20 - Daily
The skids weren't on public roads, otherwise I wouldn't even bother saying that I was doing skids in the first place
I don't need help in doing better skids, I'm trying to figure out why it turned off.
Today I checked the ignition coil and distributor plug for any loose connections, none.
Battery clamps are tight as well.
I checked for any loose silicon hoses, just to make sure i had not blown one out during heavy acceleration at the time.

im not saying you need help but in those situations when mine was auto sometimes it would stall.Originally Posted by Z2TT

Oh, I thought you were suggesting to go manual for better skids
Not sure why it being automatic would cause it to turn off, by the way mine did not stall, engine just shut off.
Another possibility, could it be the idle speed control valve causing problems?
no no no
non-stall, engine turn off suddenly =
engine suddenly has no fuel. ie pump stopped, or injectors stopped firing
engine suddenly lost spark. ie no spark plug action. could be anything losing power/
engine suddenly lost air... you sucked up a cat or somethingunless you have something large blocking the intake, this almost NEVER happens.. look at fuel and spark.
engines are simple. if it suddenly just stops, then something is suddenly stopping working.
in your case, probably electricty to some vital part.
time to go step by step, and rule things out BUT.. since yours only occasionally happens, you may only occasionally be able to see the problem![]()

firstly, lol.
guarantee it'd be loose power connections, either from the ignitor, coils, or the CAS. You have to rememeber that these cars are already 20 years old. had the same problem with my mz20, so i redid all the solder joints and she was apples.
I will go over everything again.
jimmmmayyy, do you know exactly which part or which wire caused the problem in your Z20?
Would a rich condition be the problem?, I know 1g's run very rich stock, and my AFM spring must have loosened a lot from all the heat, causing the engine to run extra rich, especially when the BOV vents.
I may adjust the AFM spring one tick tighter.
when you say the car turns off. do you mean the engine just cuts out.
or the whole electrics, dash etc cut out as well.
??
As they say in the book, assembly is the reverse of dismantling, but slower cos you forgot where all the bits are
yeah particularly the wires that go to the CAS and the ignitor. search for 7m articles on the net related to the same problem and you'll see. it's not identical, but its still all the same shit.
