where can we get new ones then?
the original canister isn't ideal for EFI environment unless you have a VSV preventing evacuation of the canister outside periods of high manifold vacuum and a 1-way valve preventing the canister seeing boost.
It will also be 30+ years old and not doing a very good job anymore.
get not-so-used items from the wreckers?
I was under the impression that doing an engine conversion required to use emissions gear from at least the production date of the engine or newer. Given this, ill be using the GA70 one from my halfcut. Where have you mounted other things? Battery, fuel pump, surge tank etc?Originally Posted by ddeane

Have a look at my car on forum rides http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1638 there are a couple of photos towards the end of the thread that will show where things are. If you require more detailed photos just let me know and I will take some. The car is engineered with the canister as it is.
Battery is under the bonnet - just smaller and turned sideways on a cut and shut tray to fit in. It is a TA23 not an RA28 so the surge tank is in the boot along side the fuel tank on the LHS. The prepump and filter is located with the surge tank but the high pressure pump and filter is underneath the car behind the rear axle on the RHS. This seems to take away most of the fuel smell. A project in the (near) future is to locate it all with the pump underneath the car, 'cos while I have managed to line it up with the back edge of the fuel tank I am still concerned about something loose in the boot damaging it. (Hint - just waiting for Rod to realise that there is a business opportunity for him to manufacture more surge tank assemblies like he did for his RA28.)
I considered using the GA70 canister but managed to mislay it when I was doing the conversion some 8 years ago. The original did fit so well and there was no need for extra fabrication.
