You'll be wanting something very simmillar to

You will also need a custom flywheel to bring the friction surface out far enough from the engine to work with the adaptor.

I would suggest looking at using a 1MZFE or 2GRFE if you want a decent NA engine to swap into an AW11. The 2GRFE makes as much power as the 1UZ but it's only 3.5L and both these options are 60 degree V6's instead of a 90 degree V8, so it should be an easier fit.

3VZ is a much better idea, and legal.

New rules Sideshow is talking about are the new NCOP's.
They have already been posted and discussed on these forums.

Minimum weight for NA 1UZ will be 992kg.
Minimum weight for FI 1UZ will be 1323kg.

And these are FACTORY weights, not post-conversion weights.

I'm with the rest of you. The V6 is a much more doable job.
60* angle rather than 90*, shorter engine, bolts to the gearbox. Sure it's not going to be as outright torquey, but that can be solved with some mods.

You have the option of being insane, broke, and illegal, or merely mad, broke and legal.

    Regulations.

And are you sure its over a ton? I would have expected it to be in the 950kg range.

    http://www.drive.com.au/used/search/...v=1&mode=Specs
lists weight of an 4age AW11 as 1050kg I assume they'd just be quoting all manufacturers figures

Hmm, redbook says the same thing.

    Well then, perfectly legal.

Yep the AW11 is a heavy little bugger, there's a lot of steel in that chassis.

why the hell do people ask on here if its possible

the rta has the final say
then before them its the engineer

so ring afew engineers and see what they say

most engineers have different thoughts so try afew

the conversion does sound silly and maybe undrivable but apart from that it will be ok

but this forum is the last place to ask

firstr see if yr allowed then u can ask on this forum how it can be done

just because someone got a similar car engineered last yr doesnt mean this yr its legal

this is a rumour and not sure if true asbout maybe new rules

no more than 20% more power than std enigne is allowed

no more than 20% more weight than std enigne is allowed

if anyone can double check with my info let me know if its bullshit

So they're gonna dyno every car suspected of being overpowered? Awesome!

On topic: 3VZ will obviously make the job alot easier, and I reckon a hot V6 sounds almost as good as a V8, in some cases even better. Plus better weight distribution. Might also leave room in the engine bay for a couple of turbos or a centrifugal supercharger, which will more than compensate for the 1UZ - 3VZ power gap...

you could always read up on the new national code of practice draft that has at least two threads on here as well as a couple on performance forums as well..

for people in NSW, there is very little difference except in the extent to which they help you by providing forms for approval (ie to list things and check each step is fulfilled)

as for your previous comment about it fuckign everything... i think it will be the other way around. easier for everyone to know what is and isn't allowed, and other states come into line so a car engineered in any state doesn't have to go through bullshit to be allowed to be registered in different state..

still waiting to know why you think it is such a bad thing (esp for not havign read the draft yet?)

like i said they are rumours i just heard something

if yr not allowed to fit and engine with no more than 20 percent more power than std
then not many import engines will get passed

im pretty sure this wont happen or maybe on the lighter cars

i know of engineers not epassing vans with v8s anymore
cause they dont handle or brake good

i rang another engineer he said to goto a place on the net called

    VOTARS NCOP

    but i couldnt find it
    the current rules are there
which are under 1100 kgs then u times weight by 3 to get max capacity for N/A
    2.5 for F/I

over 1100 kgs then its bit more open
