    I think the late 1MZ-FE's are the most powerful non vvti/fly by wire V6's. From memory they make ~220hp. It's a 3L alloy block V6 which would be a really nice fit for a AW11 in my opinion. The down side is it's not a particularly tough engine, small rods and weak pistons. If you're going to contemplate forced induction I'd recomend the 3VZ-FE which is also 3L but cast iron block with stronger internals and lower factory power output.

    I'd agree with Josh on this one.
    Seeing as your car is old enough, I'd be going for a 3VZ rather than a 1MZ, as they are tougher to start with.
    There are cases of tough 1MZs in the states, but you'll find that the internals have been upgraded, blocks sleeved, etc.

    The V6s fit with a lot less drama than the 1UZ due to the width caused by the angle of the V, & I've been thinking about a V6 for the Caldina for a while too.

    That said, the V8 would be horn & would freak people out at the lights (& the cops would have no idea where the noise is coming from...)
