try cleaning out the ISCV, it could be jammed up with crap. The computer controls idle via the ISCV i believe if 1G's function the same as 7M's etc. do you have any vacuum leaks in any of your intake piping?? also check that the throttle butterfly is closing fully.

I cleaned my ISCV and throttle body last week and it actually made my engine idle higher. There's an adjustment screw on the underneath (or side) of the TB but it looks hard to get to?

if the ISCV isn't getting power, limp mode is high idle.
    1. There's no point arguing with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

If the ISCV isn't getting power, it doesn't move - it doesn't magically go open - it will remain at whatever position it was at before the failure.

Block the hose running to the ISCV - if the idle doesn't drop it's nothing to do with ISCV.
If it's the ISCV there could be various reasons, one of which is "it's normal" - have you let it warm up? A 1G-GTE with a fully open ISCV will hit idle rev cut and the revs will bounce between 2500 and 500ish or so - based on this I don't think your ISCV is fully open.

Is the speed sensor wiring connected? The engine will quite happily run without one, but the idle can do weird things.

Did you disconnect the battery? The computer will run rich and idle high for a little while until the ecu sorts itself out. Usually takes a little run after it has been disconnnected before the idle will return to normal.

Havn't tried disconnecting the battery. I'll try it tomorrow see how it goes, my car has a HKS f-con, although I don't think that would effect the change in idle speed?

Mine idles at 1000rpm (when warm) after cleaning out the ISCV and throttle body. Before that it used to idle at ~700rpm.

intersting according to my sticker under the bonnet, idle should be at 700rpm...mine idles at 700rpm during the day and at night on a cold night it will idle at 900rpm........

Yeah I looked under my bonnet on my GZ20 and it said 700 RPM. Mine Idles at 700 RPM.

I dont see how cleaning the ISCV should bring up the idle speed to 1000 RPM, there is something wrong there, maybe engine was not fullly warm.

At normal temps mine Idles at 650 - 700 RPM

FWIW, when I reset the ECU on my old 1G, it'd idle quite high (2000-2500rpm) until it warmed up. It "learns" not to idle this high later in my experience.
