word of caution: given the dodgy wiring you already have, is not likely that one visit will cure all (if anything). I'd suggest we look at trying to separate the engine loom (or what's left of it) from the spagetti/tape loom that currently infests the car.

Then form that, rebuild the engine loom leaving you to do the fun bit (fixing up the lighting.dash, etc).

Chuckster came around and rewired a few dodgy things, then we removed the air flow meter pipe and pushed in the afm flap to engage the fuel pumps and its started on all 4. Chuckster then did a check on the AFM and found that i might be dodgy so i need another AFM to check if its what needs to be replaced

not idling, but running a bit better.

AFM was open circuit between 5Vref and earth (should be a fixed resistance) and the wiper and earth was also open circuit (should vary).

weirdest thing. we could get engine to run sensibly (e.g. sound like a 4AGE) with finger shoved down AFM to open up the vane. Otherwise, it sounded like it was trying to run on 4 cyls. Was thinking about it on the way home - and came to conclusion that when normally running it opens up a lot less during starting and idling.

Also, fuse panel wiring fixed up so inj power and fuel pump didn't have battery power but are correctly switched. Very dodgy.

There are some 3sge/3sgte AFMs that are a near match to the 20V one. Plug is the same but measuring range is a little out. And the3s one has bigger cross sectional area.

I can get a second hand one, but we are still not 100 percent sure that its the AFM if anyone around the sunshine coast has one that they can spare for 10 minutes that would be great

Hey guys, I have had a brief look at this car about 3 months ago. I don't have much 20v experience, except for ones fitted with Adaptronics, so me knowledge of the standard ECU is limited.

Strangely, I did pick up a change in voltage when testing the MAF, I specifically remember it.

Also if I am correct, and im just assuming here, the MAF triggers the fuel pump when it is open any amount, which works well.

It was only a brief look but does that sound right about the fuel pump?
