I'd check that the bundle of earth leads in the engine loom that are usually connected to the head are in fact well connected to he head and the engine to chassis/battery earth is substantial and also well connected.

A spark suggests the ECU is ok.

Have you checked that the fuel pump is OK and flowing fuel when under load (e.g. FPR is seeing minimal vacuum)?

did the motor sit (and the injectors clag up) for some time before you started work on it (top cleaning the injectors should clear that fault).

I'm on the sunshine coast (well, rural Conondale) - i could come over (assuming you're not in Gympie) one night for beers and have a look if you want.

    ^ it wont be that...

i went and saw jason on saturday (yesterday) and i would be very muchly pointing to wiring... as it is a real hackjob and quiet silly in some cases.

his fuel setup is fine, injectors are getting power/pulse, but note the injectors themselves have a high resistance, plugs smell oily, and thats about all the extra info i can give.

ive suggested to Jason to really re-think the wiring, especially what controlls spark.

Another thing i noticed, is when i got Jason to turn the key to "start" i would get a constant 12v coming out of the injectors, but when it ran by itself for those odd seconds, the volts drop drematically, almost asif that once you release the key from "start" back to IGN it stops giving power to the injectors. Seems very wack.

the thing that makes it most difficult is the fact that its a very tight engine bay and its hard to make sense of the wiring as its basically running everywhere. If it was a normal ae86 or something i would have just pulled out the entire loom and re-wired it all up for Jason, but i was struggling to follow what went where.

on another note, a mate and i basically rewired my 16v and now she is running beut

possible causes: circuit opening relay not hooked up correctly, earthing (either ECU to engine or engines/starter to chassis) not good?

    thechuckster:

i doubt it would be the circuit opening relay, as on a 4age, that usually controlls the fuel pump. From what i could gather the fuel setup was turning (and staying on) when it should.

its rigged in kinda dodgy, but it still does what it should.
