I'd just run all new wires for the AFM from the ECU and engine ground.

With the AFM unplugged on a 20V it wont even start, the fuel pump switch is inside the AFM housing.

the folks who wired it up, made their own loom (almost). They left short tails on each plug and the ECU plus then ran new wires from connectors to the ECU and chassis interconnect... novel idea iven teh small space in the engine bay but flawed in application.

I fixed the circuit opening relay so it only had FP power with IGN on and FM flap opened (before, opening the AFM would enable the FP, despite no key in ignition). Likewise the injectors were on permanent battery power, now they are IGN switched.

As others have suggested, it needs tracing from sensors to ECU pins. Also, a check engine light would be useful (diagnostic port was deleted by the aforementioned folks).

yo Jason, your running rings around yourself ... seriously yank it out and start again. its easier to do it once, correctly, then it is to be forever fixing it. wiring problems are lame.

im still of the opinion that its more then the AFM wiring. When i was there i was getting some real wack readings, and the wiring has been chopped like a cain-feild

Last email from said he had a mate who was a mechanic looking at the motor and figured they were onto something.

I went back to Jason's place a few weeks back and we got some codes out of it - ignition faults - turned out the installer had smashed the plug on the dizzi so the NE, G1, G2 & associated earth were intermittently contacting cause they were now just insulated connectors sitting on the pins in the socket. They were going back to the right ECU pins - but I never got around to checking ignitor connectivity and the next step was seeing if the sensor earths had been joined to more noisy earths.

He fixed the plug but the motor was still running like shite.

Just wondering have you checked your plugs?
Last time when i had a similar prob. i thought it was the ECU as i was running an aftermarket.
After putting back the original ECU & dizzy, i later found out i have a fault plug. used less than 500km. Go figure. Like you siad could be soemthing simple
