    wait a min im confused...

im doin the hilux/pug/corona brake upgrade right now on my ra23 as well, i spent all day at the wreckers (u pull it elizabeth, adelaide) pulling out xt130 struts and now you wreckon the rt132 is better?!!!

there are millions of rt132's (TAKAI TAKE NOTE) and like one xt130 corona!!! (which i got the struts out of)

    have i made a mistake???

has anyone in adelaide sourced the pug 604 rotors before with good price etc?

before i go any further i just want to be sure, and yes i know there has been millions of articles on this (but they all have had their own problems)

    so i will now need:

1: pug 604 rotors (rda 272SL or dba 272 items) slotted or vented? same same?

2: ms65 crown hubs to give 5x114.3 stud pattern

3: ln106 4 spot hilux callipers and rebuild kit

PLEASE correct me if im wrong im on a tight budget and i dont wanna have to do this twice!

    Cheers

    craig

PS. i also got commowhore 4 band o2 sensor, 22re comp and looms (to retro to the rg) dash mat, bonnet hinges, commonwhore efi in tank pump, 22re dizzy and internals and other odds and sods

    wait for it....................... $200 ! ! !

seriously if your in adelaide u pull it is the way to go, they just have a flat rat for everything, i saw a guy get ra28 doors + bonnet in good shape for under $200

mat XT130 and RT142 suit fine, depends on how picky you are.
as for slotted and vented being the same thing they are not,

    slotted:
slots in the contact surface of thw rotor to allow material and trapped gas etc to escape.
    vented/:
the center of the rotor has holes through it to help with cooling, as opposed to solid rotors

there are also many other sorts of brake surfaces,

on the topic, are people interested in brake coolers for these im thinking of making a run of the main plates (the ducts are up to you), bassicaly it will go around the back of the strut/hub instead of the dust cover and a duct from the front of the car blows air into the center (you need vented rotors for it to work)

pegouet 604 rotors are vented . period.

their DBA272 ... also look at RDA272 .. diff company but cheaper and plenty good.

the S is for slotted but i dont know bout the L

rt132 hubs may add more track than xt130.

with all xt130 gear the caliper is about 3mm forward of the hub surface ... and some wheels may not clear this. (ie flat face style (b45s globes etc))

Matt, yeah i did the u-pullit thing it elizabeth a few weeks ago. Cheap but feral

I got the complete struts, hubs, control arms, steering arms, ball joints, pedders rear springs, lower trailing arms with nolathane bushes, rear light for a corolla, nolathane caster rod bushes and a couple more things for $160. He wanted $220 for the lot but i said i didnt need the front springs and discs so i removed the front discs and paid less.

Quite a few good things there if you look around.

With the 20mm rotors, i rang pbr, repco, supercheap and sprints and from memory sprints and supercheap had the best prices for the dba or rda items. $260 for the pair from memory.

Click on the link to the ae86 brake upgrade link above for some info into this upgrade.

    poida,
Red bushes could well be pedders as opposed to nolathane,

So is the rt132 strut a better choice as you can use most 14" wheels? is the caliper spacing the same?

There are actually 3 types of 604 rotors if you look at the dba catalogue. Although you want the db272 (slotted) or rda272SL. The no's stay quite uniform between rotor co's. Look at page 71 via this link. Click save as.

im hoping for some 17" simmons i hope this isnt a problem, i may need to trial and error some spacers (although i think they may be illegal in sa) and offsets, these are the ones im hoping for:

mate 17s wont be very good on a celica, back in the 70s 15s were big,
17s wont get full lock and will likely rub the guards over bumps, also are illegal due to increase in wheel diameter

dba272 isnt slotted. tick in slotted column means slotted is available.

RDA272 a pair cost me 160. Machining daimeter down was 80 the paid.

then file 1mm larger bolt holes and bobs ya uncle bolt up city.

if the spokes are level with the rear surface that sits on the hub .... no.

if there is like a mini hub on the back of the centre this will be enough to clear.

imagine a flat face back of the centre but with inbuilt sapcer... thats the type of wheel you need. See below

RT132 hubs if they fit xt130 without interfering on anything may be the solution and make all three type YES

.. need to test fit this combo to make sure tho
