all i can see is the car weighs 1150kg...... i can only dream.
You can go to within about 15-16mm from the top of the bell mouth trumpet without affecting flow into it, as the flow comes mostly from the side. It is here (around the trumpet) that it has been given plenty of area.Originally Posted by 30psi 4agte
Nice work OC.
YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.

Always look on the bright side of life
look in the states. seems the odd one pops up there.
anything currant is still owned by TRD and leased out
just to add some further detail to this thread - this is the intake manifold from a genuine Sierra Cosworth turbo (was up at the 2006 Noosa Hill Climb).
Note the relatively short runners from head to plenum and minimalist plenum (small like the TRD unit but not tapered. Throttle attaches to the bottom of the plenum in the centre - hence no need for the taper (i think).
My guess is that they have very short bellmouths protruding into the plenum space.
Also of interest (short runners), the turbo was mounted pretty high and the small build plate/number serial had a ford logo - saying 'built for ford by Garret'. I'm curious as to whether it was imported via DJR or direct from teh UK... and whether the DJR racing units had the turbo up so high as it's close to the bonnet and Dick tended to run turbos white hot (and kill them).
If anyone wants hi-rese pics of these (there are two more), drop me a PM with 'hillclimb sierra pics' in the title.

the sierras were run under group A rules, so turbo location is the stock location
Z18ET Group A manifold
FJ20DET Group A Manifold

If in doubt power out
I'm fairly sure that a common mod for big boost Sierras is to add a spacer between the plenum and manifold.Originally Posted by thechuckster
