has anyone tried a 7k-eu alternator on the 3tgte? the internal reg denso version. I thinks the 3k/4k/5k alt fits but are external voltage reg. theres two types of mount though. so interested to know if someone has one spare to try?

That "Denso" alternator that is pictured above looks pretty much identical to the EA Falcon alternator.

If anyone has info on bolt-on (or easy mod) internal reg alternator to fit the intake side, please post up.
This is surely handy info for upgrading to larger turbo's or having alternator issues. would rather not have a tight bend right in front of compressor. I don't have aircon or P/S pumps to worry about on intake side and modifying the wiring to suit not too hard. battery in boot anyway.
    cheers

i do not have pictures, but i have done years and years behind one with my mate...

Problem was belt line, it cannot drive with same belt at stock line to the intake side, it will hit to the timing cover.

-First option one extra roller / tensioner needed to get belt line more down, that it wont hit anymore, place where it hit is the highest place in timing cover, i dont know how that axle is called, but (dummy cam) end. that was what i have make with my mate... problem is when belt is not tight enough it start to slip very easily, it wont accept large alternator. to less contact at belt to a crank pulley, stock alternator and it work...

another 2 what we think about can do... First was easyest to do. to us.

-Second option is move belt a little outer, (crankpulley mods and spacer under waterpump pulley)

-Third option is use stock belt line, with shorter belt, use extra tensioner in stock alternator side, and use one extra belt/belt "pulley" in a crank and use that to the alternator.. (double belt system)

with AC modell crank pulley i think it is easyest, and just add one tensioner to the alternator side to keep the waterpump belt tight enough, and use ouble belt system... we havent that option..

Hey peeps, just wondering what engine bearings people are or have used in their 3T engine builds? ACL or anything else?
    Cheers.

i got my full set from Stewart Wilkins Motorsport for about $450 from memory.

I ended up using a 87mm 3TC head gasket MLS (multi layered steel) from Paradise Racing in the states. I'm pretty sure I have a spare one somewhere as he gave me the second one for cheap.
I gave up trying to communicate with BRD.

3TC requires you goop up the front timing chain (low oil pressure) area of the head.

I want swap my 86 with 3TGTE, and I have very many question about this engine. I know this engine, because I'm very big fan of the WRC Group B rally.
    But I have many questions:

I want 250/350 hp at wheel, I want use IC and bigger turbo, injector. I need forged pistons and rods? Or only pistons.
I said the 3TC pistons is good for 3TGTE, but I don't no for the rod.
What kind of clutch do you use with W55 tranny?
What kind of the water pump do you use?

For that goal you will be ok with stock rods on ARP bolts on them, forged pistons are a must to have on any boosted engine on 250 + whp range, clutch setup, any aftermarket ceramic 4 or 6 puck sprung hub clutch disk and at least a stage 2 pressure plate will be more than enough for that goal without been to harsh or unstreetable,
    Water pump?????????????

Water pump from a 3T could be used but you need to weld shut or tap and plug the 3T water pump on the one top opening for the water neck provision bypass

On the clutch if you are using a w50-55-58 you can use a clutch setup for a MA61 if you find the 220mm flywheel for your T motor most of the late T engine came with it here in the states Ritch. by the way any hi perf Celica clutch you buy here in the states will do as long as it got ceramic pucks and springs on the hub, Ebay ACT kits for Celica 22r will work 4 you.
