    good point.

But for non-turbo (2TG/3TG Hybrids etc) they would be a good thing yeah ?

Hi guys, after some quick advice. A few weeks ago I swapped the sump over on my 3TGTE (from a chopped up modified sump) and filled it with oil. Exactly how much oil does the 3T take on the initial fill up? I have poured in just over 5L so far and it is only now JUST showing up on the bottom of the dip stick (below low still..). Is this right? I though they took 4.5L or am I completely off the mark?

I'm using a dip stick and sump from a 2T, though I was under the impression that this didn't matter. I just don't want to over or under fill it before I start it for the first time!!

    Thanks 3TGTE gurus!

sounds like too much oil to me. The stock sump holds just under 4L from memory (3.8), with new filter and stock sump ~4.5L sounds about right.
    YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
    12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.

    al,

2t sump is fine, the 2t dipstick is wrong, the dipstick tubes differ between the 3tgte and the 2t.

As yellorolla states 4.5 is about right, any more in mine and it it just blows it back out.

So, the question is; you have the 3T GTE dipstick tube? if so, I might be able to help you out with dipstick length.

It's a 3T GTE block/engine. So chances are, unless someone has gone to the effort of changing the pipe, it is a 3T GTE item.

Can I grab the dimensions YelloRolla? The total length and also the lengths between: the end of the stick and the Low mark, low and high marks, bottom of the stick to the low mark? Or any combination that will let me know how full it is

I'll double check how much oil I put in exactly, then take as much as I need out until it's at 4.5L

Thank you very much for you help guys!

150mm = 3T GTE dipstick tube length (top of tube to block)
345mm = length to the full line
367mm = length to low level line
I think that the bottom of the stick was about another 15mm below the low level. I will check that later.

Given the wording i.e. "2TG Metal Head Gaskets. They are made of multi-layered steel. Available in several thickness. 0.8, 1.00, 1.2, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mm" then they are the multi layer steel gaskets - that or the company is straight out lying... You'd probably have to give them a call and ask the question straight.

My guess is that they are the Kameari 90mm bore 2TG gaskets, as that site also shows quite a bit of Kameari stuff.

Yep, emailed them and they confirmed they are kameari which is 90mm bore. I asked kameari for other bores but they said there is not enough demand

    Hi All,

Here's my set up: '77 RA29 w/ 3T-GTE. Has CT26, Starion intercooler, oil cooler, Blitz Twin SBC (600?), '85 Celica GTS ECU, 6Tech Pro (no idea what this is). That's how I bought the car. I'd like to upgrade it and have $4-5000 USD to play with. I'd rather spend less, but I can go that high. I'd like to hit ~225-250 rwkw. Is this realistic?

So far I'm thinking Kameari 2TG idler tensioner, Eagle rods, Wiseco pistons, (JMR?) oil pan, ARP 7M-GTE head stud kit and Denso 440cc 7M-GTE injectors.

Everything there OK? What should I look at for cams? Brand, spec and price?
Is there a preference between Wiseco and Arias pistons? What size? What CR? What gaskets to suit?
Will I need a new fuel rail? Pump? Brand and size/model for each?
What about a new ignitions system?
Should I be doing anything to the block or head?
What about ECU? I've seen a few names thrown about, but I don't know anything about any of them. Any recommendations?

    What have I missed?

Yes, I'm pretty ignorant here, but I'm trying and greatly appreciate any help you guys can offer. Thanks.
