which dimension is the height? old corollas mid engined idea has got me thinking how nice and low you could get the centre of gravity using 1 of these engines with a transaxle for a hill climb car or similar
bah, couple of 1" holes with holesaw on inside panel = gold![]()

NO CHANCE MATE..... did a timing belt on a liberty today,....basically same motor, theres NO CHANCE IT WILL FIT BETWEEN THE STRUT TOWERS......
id say put a 3cyl charade turbo motor in it....and convert it to FWD
lol

fuck the ta23 idea make a sti powered go kart, random commo parts to make it go, ie diff fuel tank and fucking hoon about
heck while we are here why dont we try and mount a 1g E-W?
Viper motor E-W would be pretty awesome5m wide engine bay FTW!!!

Anyone remember that italian supercar that ran a transverse V-16?

I wonder if theres a half cut floating around somewhere........
In all seriousness this a greta idea for a conversion, but thats about it.
the boxer engines are just a different shape to most engines, and nearly impossible to fit in a bay not originally designed for em. the only car which will take a subaru motor easily(relatively) is a porsche.
The other side of the coin is that if youve got a porsche or a subaru their isnt much that will fit either, so your choices for engine conversion are limited.
Id say sell the motor, youll probally be able to get enough to pay for a 1gg/jz/uz halfcut,
Or if you want to be different just pick basically any straight 4, 6 or v8 and itll go in easier than the boxer.
why make an engine conversion harder? its tough enough already!

GA23(never finished-now with cracked block) JZX83 (Tyre eater) 3sgte AE86. by now i should know better.
ive told him to sell it. measured it up, no chance without major money. mid engined idea is a good one. just oredered some new suspension parts, so the motor is gonna be a 3T for awhile longer and before you all start laying in to me, i bought the Celica with the 3T already in it. the last owner blew the 2T. probably explains some of the dodgy work done to it...................

Good to see some common sense prevailing.
But I've got to ask why it got this far in asking? A quick look at the motor & the engine bay, or use google to find the dimension like OldCorollas did would've shown that this was a really stupid idea.
Why do you need a transaxle? Just use the gearbox from a front wheel drive liberty.Originally Posted by jezza323

3VZ would be an interesting conversion... bulk torque too, and reasonably unique.
Perhaps a turbocharged 2ZZ-GE??
Sorry, but its unlikely you will get the following words to meld together in the same sentence:
Cheap
Unique
Worthwhile
Legal
Conversion
You have a choice of deleting either Cheap, Unique, Worthwhile or Legal from that list. If you do manage to do something which incorporates all of them, well, you will probably also have 5 girlfriends who were virgins when you met them and dont mind sharing you with each other.
