While I totally agree, I'm asking the question for a 4L supercharged V8, not a 3L turbo six![]()
From what I can gather, dual exhausts were often used on V8s to:
a) Keep exhaust noise down and drone down
b) Keep exhaust flow HIGH
c) Keep a bit of ride height (Twin 2.5" gives more height then a single 3" for example)
Also, on a 3L turbo charged car, 2.5" I beleive is too big.
Dual 2" is a TOUCH under a single 3" area wise...

Oh...
I'd still be running the same though.
3" - 3.5" seems to still be a-okay on 5.7L turbos...
3.5" single would equate to around a 2.5" dual...
Fair enough then, i'll probably stick to the original dual 2.5" plan, only they'll have to come across and join on the passenger side because of the tank
Cheers to all who replied. Rep coming.

Dammit, dammit to hell. From the NCOPs:
"Vehicles manufactured after June 1988 must not have the exhaust exiting to the left of the vehicle."
Rules out twin sidepipes. Means I could run them both over to the drivers side, but if i'm doing that, I'd rather just stick em out the back![]()

SIDE PIPE FOR THE WIN!
I wonder why it can't exit to the left?
How about dump one out the back, the other out the side?
Saves going past the fuel tank on the "cramped" side...
I have the solution to all of your woes.

I fail to see why wanting twin exhausts all the way for my V-engined car is rice? It's what US Muscle cars have had for ages, yet you wouldn't call them rice...
Oh, and Kyosho, I'd say so it doesn't exit onto pedestrians on the sidewalk![]()

Norbie: V engines are actually WELL suited to twin exhausts.
The exhaust is split to begin with, and it's been shown you can get a much quiter, and higher flowing exhaust much more easily with twins.
So having a quiet, yet performance enhancing exhaust, that also gives more ground clearance is now rice?
You know full well the single system the car was designed for will work perfectly well. You only want dual exhausts for the look of it. Rice! Your honour I rest my case.

If it's only for rice why do I still want to do it to one side into one muffler if I have to? I want to do it for the reasons Kyosho mentioned.
