If you want maximum, hp/response/fuel economy/driveability/etc. You MUST run TPS with ITB's.

There are NO downsides with mapping ITB's and TPS.
There are HUGE problems with ITB's and MAP !!!!! Stable signal, resolution, delay in signal if using vac canister. Yes you can make it run, but then so do microtec's.

I use only TPS. So does a certain nearly 200 rwkW 3S. I'm sure rms' 500+ hp 1UZ also only uses TPS.

I'm not sure what we're missing?

use a vac reservoir.... like a small half inch tube with vac lines running to each throttle otherwise you may have issues not getting enough vac reading... or just buy a fancy bling one. either way, you want to get a line to each throttle.

depends on setup, but load is not always linear to throttle position (for a given RPM)
is no problem for a car that will always be driven hard, but at light throttle on varying grades of road, it can be a slight issue..

then again, if you are running closed loop O2 feedback for cruise conditions and light load, then TPS only is fine

Yes, yes, very funny. Motec. Drove like a docile kitten on the road. Even Glenn says his Celica is pretty gentle to drive on the road.

For a given RPM, load is directly related to throttle position, it doesn't have to be linear.

If you map the engine at all RPM and throttle position sites on a dyno, the only issues you will have at light throttle on varying grades of roads will be acceleration enrichment settings.

The trick is knowing what A/F, ignition and injection timing an engine requires at various load/rpm/throttle positions, not just at max power.

i always run tps as ther is a big airflow difference between 15%trottle 0map and 100% throttle @ 0 map as to your fueling requirements.

i will be running my ITB's on MAP x TPS with the MAP table linear from 0 at 0kpa (absolute), to 1 at 100 kpa (absolute) and then tuning via the TPS map, this should allow a bit better tuning at low throttle openings/varying loads, but still allow full TPS tuning once you get over about 40% throttle (or whenever load hits 100kpa)

i use the TPS for zero to 100 % throttle and i use the MAP for atmospere and if you need a booster just use 1 runner port that will be enough for the brakes as it only takes vacuum down at the low revs any way

It should also be added that you're typically braking with the throttle closed ie maximum vacuum conditions.
