On a side note... since bonnet gas struts from Toyota are $375 each i think the cooler isn't that badly priced.
Hey... how many brothers does Richz have?! I bought some aircon stuff off one of his brothers... or was that you?
Anyhow... i'll PM him and see if he has some helpful pics. Thanks.
Supercheap aren't super cheap as it turns out... a silicone 90deg bend 3"-2.5" reducer at Supercheap is $67.50 and the same thing on eBay is $28 from one seller or $35 from another.
Autobarn has something similar for $114.Although by the sounds of it, it has a bit of length either side of the bend which is different to the eBay item.

You can get bonnet struts off Ebay for $60 the pair.
Plus Otomoto has specificially priced their cooler joins cheaper than JJ.

I was looking at those struts on eBay... are they any good? I am tempted to buy them even though i know there's a heap of crap stuff on eBay.

I'm gonna go with these guys... http://www.struts.com.au/
...they're cheaper and they come to your house and fit them. $70 fitted for changeover struts.

Here is how Tim and I did it. Just use the factory piping and two 90 degree silicone bends from otomoto-too easy. It all just bolts together really but it is a tight fit.
you get the idea. Its hard to get decent photos underneath the car as the light isn't real good and its black on black really.
Cheers
Rich
is the intercooler mounted normally or upside down?
if its the right way up (even tho i dont think it matters which way they are mounted) i think jabtronics setup would be perfectly fine. and yours isnt as wide the shouldnt be any problem.
should actually be that hard to fit. literally.

they cut my ends off the cooler and welded new 90 deg bends on so they come straight out of the cooler, the one on the drivers side hooked straight up to the std piping, but the bottom pipe of the pass side needed to be redone, and thats with a 600w one

The boobs are back
I don't have any photos of how mine is routed offhand, but I had one side of my 600x300x76mm intercooler re-welded upside down in an attempt to make air flow through more of the core. I sacrificed the aircon to do this though. Also had to chop a hole where the battery usually sits, and attack part of the bumper support with an angle grinder. But the whole piping cost me $150 lolBought the silicon joiners off eBay cheap, and same with the clamps. Still have a bunch of silicon joiners sitting here I'd be happy to sell.
Cooler cost me $175 off Just Jap, plus $100 to weld one side upside down.
Make sure you use "Permatex Aviation Goo #3" on your piping when sliding the silicon hoses onto it, it is a gooey substance that seals up the boost leaks, and never dries out. Makes the pipes easy to slide on and off, but not leak.
If I had to do it again, I would have used a 450mm cooler instead of 600mm, retained the aircon, and had proper alloy intercooler piping put in, instead of stainless steel.
FYI the throttle body uses a 2.75" hose, and the output of the turbos is 2.25".

About to order an intercooler for my 1J conversion. Do you guys think 2.5" or 3" outlets will be easier to adapt to standard JZX81 piping?

2.5" would be best, although you can just as easily use silicone reducers with 3" outlets so it doesn't make a lot of difference.
