I'll be doing this to the front of my 30. If i have a working camera i'll take a few happy snaps along the way.

i reckon those two will fuck you up

what length is an mx62 strut body and how does that compare to your std one?
i've found that the body length of the strut is actually about 10mm shorter from memory.
problemo was the the steering knuckle. the bolt spacing is out by about 2mm...
so my solution was to leave the front locating dough in the knuckle and ovalise the rear most bolt hole to allow it to fit.
now i haven't driven the car nor will i for a long time but i believe that it will work as i have had a mate do the same thing and it was fine for him. but i will look into using the mx62 steering knuckle or somethiing that will fit... maybe if the taper is wrong a bit of machininhg could make it fit?

35rolla, if you are still looking for XT130 gear, check out Harveys. About 4-5 or so last time I was there.

I went to the local wreckers (U-PULL-IT).

Got the XT130 struts, RA60 discs and MX62 calipers. went to go pay for them.

Guy adds it all up seperatly and it comes to $180. Apparantly all a strut includes is a shock and spring.

I went back today and pinched the calipers off them and left the strut and rotor there.

Just thought id let the people in Adelaide looking to do this to source parts else where. Toyoland sells complete strut pairs for $100.

    Hey mate, Nice write up.

Curious to know whether this will also work for a ta22, seeing at ra28 would be the same setup

if you can confirm that XT130/RA40/RA28 struts fit into a TA22 then i dont see why this couldnt work.

    Good luck.

Certainly does work, as Ed (shelldrake) has this setup in his TA22.

i have a set of KE lower control arms used for this setup. Helps with camber issues.
i did not require them for the ra28 upgrade. available on request.

Im looking to do this brake upgrade on my TA22, only problem is that ive
already got new front shocks for the TA22 strut. The questions is; will the TA22 shocks fit into the XT130 struts? I bloody hope so cos if not ill have to sell the new shocks

I believe the TA22 shocks are narrower in the body diameter than the XT130 struts unfortunately...

Shouldn't be too hard to find a buyer for your shocks though in the for sale section!

I had standard TA22 strut inserts in my unmodified XT130 struts, worked fine, but they will need a spacer in the bottom of the tube, as the inserts are not quite long enough, some fat washers thrown in the bottom worked for me.

    Cheers Brendan

Ok so spacers in the strut bottom will fix the length

Whats the best way to fix the diameter problem? Another spacer type deal?

Nope, no way of fixing the diameter problem, other than using a smaller diameter shock. XT130 is a 48mm OD shock, and TA22 45mm OD
