To add to the confusion, the PCD of the disk is actually different to the PCD of the wheel, as the bolt holes in the back of the hub where the disk bolts on are not the same bolt holes where the wheel studs come out.

So 35Rolla, if you have a KE35, then it will work fine for you with your existing wheels (should they fit over the brakes, the standard 13" KE3x wheels don't fit on these brakes - they don't even fit on standard RA40 brakes!!)

hi this looks like a good easy upgrade, just a thing i have got some conflicting info on the PCD of the XT130 studs, can you clarify if its 110 or 114? i want to do this conversion but i got a hub from the local wrecker which they said was off a XT130 but it was not correct stud pattern as my car (ke35 PCD 114). just want 100% conformation before i go ahead with it.

    XT130 PCD is 4x114.3

    100% sure.

XT130, RT132 and RT133 are 4 x 114.3 (hence the reason my Celica rims fit), but the PCD of where the disk bolts to the back is 4 x 110.

I also know for a fact that KE35 is 4 x 114.3 but the stock rims from them won't fit on this brake upgrade as the disk/calliper combo is too big. What diameter rims do you have?? Basically you will be hard pressed finding a set of 13's which will fit (12 slotters generally do, and I have seen some Jellybeans which do too)

I have counted 4 separate times on this forum where you were concerned XT130 was a different PCD than your KE35 and each time we have told you that XT130 is in fact 4x114.3 the same as your KE35. Not to mention the fact that i did this on a KE35.

hi i asked you a while ago about this upgrade and dont mean to be a pain, i cannot for the life of me find an XT130 at any wreckers, i have looked around and just wondering if you know of any reason why i cant use cressida front assembly's from a late 80's model? they have same stud pattern and look to be very similar to the struts you have pictured.

get out a tape measure son... its not just about the stud pattern.

Is the bolt spacing where the strut mounts to the steering knuckle the same?

What is the angle of the stub axle in comparison to what you are running now? If its massively different you could end up with lots of positive camber.

If you do a search of the toymods forums you will find there are a couple of Toyota models you can use. RT132 is another that springs to mind.

Any corona which is modelled #T13# (where # represents a letter or number which is irrelevant) can be used. The #T14# Coronas of 1983 to 1986 are useless as they will provide ridiculous positive camber. I would hazard a guess that the bolt spacings for many things will be way too wrong with the Cressidas, especially the #X7# models of the late 80's.

With saying that, Timbo might actually be running ST141 struts in his RA28, when he thought they were XT130's, and "TA22 1MZ" is currently running MX73 struts, but may be changing to MX83 struts to get 5 stud...

Though both seem to have overcome things like bolt spacings / camber issues with things like coilovers / camber tops, different steering arms / LCA's, steering racks, custom hubs etc.

XT130/RT132 is plug and play into a KE35 with, KE35 LCA and ball joint, XT130/RT132/RA40 steering knuckle, KE35 strut top, ke35 spring perch, as detailed in the 1st post with pictures

XT130/RT132 is also plug and play into a RA23/28/40 with, RA23/28/40 LCA and ball joint, RA23/28/40 steering knuckle, RA23/28/40 strut top.

in the 10+ years i have been modifying old toyotas i have never once seen anyone detail exactly how you install RA60/RT142/MX73 struts into a KE35/RA23/RA28/RA40/KE70 and explain what it takes to overcome the camber problems. So i am unable to recommend using RA60/RT142/MX73 gear since i dont know if its plug and play.

You would start by using Sigma control arms to move the wheels out, but then you are messing the track and introducing steering issues. Strut tops are not enough to remove the pos camber on their own. Basically a pain in the arse.
