Shame i found this too late as i was about to come with the std imobiliser key save ... LOL.
I had a 2000 Lancer and the Mrs a mirage. She did the same thing. Drove to work. Went
to drive home used 'uncoded' key ... now go. NRMA came out to tow it and it started LOL.
Shame you had to go through all that mess though.
Reminds me of Dr House ... always assuming there is something the patient hasnt disclosed.

Good to hear its fixed,
thats a common scenario. today we got a car in that had bin to heaps of workshops looking for a misfire, (and after spending all that money on other mechanics. they brought it back to the dealer) we did some diagnsois and found that the viscous fan was missing a blade and was obviously out of balance because of it and made the engine feel like it had a misfire lol. The simple things
