    Default Diff Ratio Suggestions

    Hi
i am fitting a 2jz to my hilux in the next month but until then i still am driving it but my diff has a massive leak from the pinion seal and is starting to become noisey
it will be a 2jz auto out of an aristo and i want to do my diff now
i have a 4.8 lsd centre at the moment (thanks evosti) and i want to fit taller? gear ratios to it
    my choices are 3.54 /3.35/3.25/3.8
which should i go for to suit my hilux
im looking to do a few 1/4 mile runs and just general street driving/racing lol

What diff ratio did the Aristo come with from factory?

i think roughly 3.2 /1 but i might want a little more pickup than an aristo not really into the licence killing 200+ speeds these days kind of grown up a little bit (almost)

The 3.54 and the 3.8 would both probably be a good compromise then.

Aristo definitely didn't come with a 3.2:1 ratio, that's what the 6-speed JZA80's came with but the autos were 4.0:1 and I expect the Aristo would have been similar.

If you're keeping the auto I'd recommend around 3.8:1, the Hilux is a lot lighter than an Aristo so you don't need the lower gearing. If you're going manual now or in the future you want the tallest diff ratio you can get your hands on, I have a 3.58:1 which works good but I'd prefer 3.2:1 if I could find such a thing for an F diff!

3.8 would be fine for 1/4 mile unless you strap a gt47 to your motor

google speed rpm calculator and plonk the data in to get the outcome. very helpful

    1. 2.804
    2. 1.531
    3. 1
    4. .702

or something very close to that

    i thought that sounded strange
i googled aristo diff ratios and found this
    http://www.myaristo.com/
    oh it says 6 speed
i will be keeping the auto to make it semi drivable/controlable
i was thinking taller diff ratio to use the torque as i drive a tt supra auto and it went through the gears in no time
