I prefer the 88251 due to the integrated balance tube and no coolant runs through the manifold.

Ok so i thought i would open the plastic bag with a carby in it and have a crack at putting it together. Mainly wanted to see if anything was missing. I have only ever pulled a suzuki carby apart once and it was significantly less complicated.

What i found inside the bag

    after some fiddling

the few leftovers. any tips on where i missed these?

Zammo, without people doing the trial and error thing in the 90's, a lot of this info wouldn't be here today. There may have been less trial and error, but that may have lead to less great ideas coming through. So your pioneering efforts are something we all have to be thankful for.

The leftover springs look like the ones on the accelleration pumps.

The funny o rings in the picture are from underneath the jet block (big bit in the centre of the float bowl that the jets screw into.
You'll want to have those in place if you're planning to use the carbies.
I agree with oman that the springs are from the accelleration pump push rod.

The ball bearing goes in one of the vertical holes (looks like a screw hole) under the fload bowl lid (the big lid). There should be two balls and two springs under or over the balls (I'm having trouble remembering).

Those little brass plungers will go somewhere in the accelleration pump system, inserted into holes from the top.

Not sure if that is the first I have seen on fleabay... the owner may need to reduce their pot consumption, or check out auctions worldwide more regularly.

Interesting engine... good condition and hasn't been started in 4 years seem a little like distant cousins to me.

The head number won't necessarily tell you what pistons are in there. There are a good many engines which have had heads lobbed onto RC blocks with 9.7 pistons isntalled back when those pistons were still available (remember, these engines were well and truly punching above their weight in the 80's and early 90's). So one can only hope that you would get 9.7 oversized pistons with an engine like that.
