Hi,
Unless you bored and stroked an 18R-G to 2.4litres, where it's extra displacement will make more power than a bored/stroked "2litre" 2T-G.Originally Posted by merc-blue

the you resleve the 2TG to a 91mm bore!!! offset gorund Y series crank!!!
back ontopic 120RWK, as river said you will need a 18RG bored and stoked running a pretty unstreatable combo of compression, ports, valves, cams, alot of balancing work
for the cost you could put a 1G in and get it engineered
dont use the mighty boat anchor and piece of shit18rg motor ,go for the 3tgte turbo factory computor etc buy rods ta23 xmember to suit a ra23 /40 series celica and have some fun .at the end of the day the 3tgte motor is a better option than the 18rg
crap.. double post.. my bad..

my suggestion: 1g is plenty of power, less work.. and not terribly hard to fit so i've heard

18rg and 2tg, is dinosaur my meng, how much money do you have to spend? dpending on that look into gettin a bigger better motor, like everyone le has already said, 4age,3sge,1g all these motors would be way better, cheaper, and more reliable.
Now targeting, people who are now targeting!!
cheers guys
how hard is it to fit a 4age or 3sge?
whats the chance of picking up a 3tgeu nowdays??
A complete one which isn't rooted? Pretty slim.Originally Posted by Azaaaa1
Go for something more modern unless you have a specific desire to stay with the old-school stuff (and you're prepared to pay twice as much for it). The 1G path has been travelled a thousand times, so if you're new to this game it wouldn't be a bad way to go.

210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.
1G is still a 2 Litre engine, and from some comparisons I've seen over the years on these forums, isn't really a whole lot heavier than an 18RG, especially if you mount it properly, ie low and as far back as possible.Originally Posted by Azaaaa1
Its by far the easiest option for your conversion other than an 18RG, there are probably more 1G powered celicas around here these days than 18R's
That being said, if you want NA, look at a RWD 3SGE from an Altezza... more $$$, but gets you that NA 4 cyl.
Converting a 3SGTE to RWD is a trickier path, custom inlet and exhaust manifolds, removal of dizzy, etc etc...
Retail for the 3T-GTE dizzy cap is less than $50 in NZ, its the rotor thats the killer (almost $200 trade last I checked).Originally Posted by merc-blue
