To keep fuel up to it I'll be using a Bosch 044 pump and Malpassi reg.
The more I search re the Disco Potato the more it appeals to me...or maybe one of those KKR turbos. Anyone used either?

Some warning: You can do all the calculations and think that you will have 200rwkw @20psi, but unless your turbo can flow that much there is no way you will get it. Alot of the power is in the turbo, money spent on the motor only says how long it will last.
Not any GT28 will do, take care seleting the turbo. http://www.turbobygarrett.com/
I have a GT2876R (GT25/40 in old speak? 4" inlet) on a 2 litre and not a watt over 169rwkw. We had most power by 10psi. The turbo is only rated at about 350hp, and thats about what we had. Couldn't flow any more.
The DiscoPotato is the GT2860RS, which is actualy smaller in dimentions, but will flow more power.
EDIT:
It was a Galant VR4 with the centre diff locked and the front wheels taken off. Max power was 169rwkw @ 18psi. Not totaly sure why the power flattened out, but some catalogs list that turbo as being 350hp. Others say 380hp, and some say 400hp. Look on NissanSilvia.com, they are all using Garret GT turbos but my GT2876R is not common. They are using something bigger or smaller, but rated at more HP either way.
For cheap power, don't use a Garret GT ball bearing turbo. Use a old style turbo at half the price, same power, more lag.

?????
169rwkw isn't 350 flywheel hp??? Were you only running it up to 10psi???
169rwkw = 226rwhp
allow, 35% drivetrain loss 350 fwhp = 227.5 rwhp

My calcs say 169rwkw = 226rwhp
226rwhp = 302hp at motor.
Unless your running an auto with a huge convertor...
your only allowing 25% for drivetrain loss.
it will depend on alot of factors and probably land somewhere in the middle.
either way, the motor probably was none so fresh, and basically even 50 hp off the turbos supposed figure is not bad imo...

35% drivetrain loss....you running a stagecoach thru mud??? 15% is generally fair, 20% at most for a manual.
A GT25/40 is rated at 400hp..hence the '40'. I ran this turbo on my 3SGTE and on 18psi it delivered an easy 211awkw (AWD GT4). Plenty left in it too. A bit big for a 4A though, would be a laggy dog on the street.

I dont think that thread really clears much up hehehe
My estimation is a little more experience than a guess but anywho.
With the goals we have, lag won't be a real worry. The car is hell light and we're more interested in getting the cheapest power we can. Seriously considering the KKR range. Can't beat the price on those babies....
lol, that was the point, clears up bugger all coz every drive train package is different
whats your experiences?
pm me if you dont want to clutter the thread, but hey, its on topic......its just the topic kinda digressed a little![]()

You might want to re-think this comment as the 40 has nothing to do with a 400 hp rating.Originally Posted by JustenGT8

300+rwkw 4agte http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/for...wkw-4agte.html
Well no it's not actually. With the GT25 series the 35 equates to 350hp and the 40 to 400hp but fair enough...the word 'hence' is probably a bit of a stretch but so commonly used and easy to rememberOriginally Posted by 30psi 4agte

We're now looking into running a turbo off a S5 Rx7. If we can get boost by 4500 we'll be happy. If not we may need to use a little gas to get it there. As we said, lag isn't too much of a concern.
