for sure, just get a 1bar spring for whatever wastegate you want.
And then later if you want more boost, then just use a boost controller to get whatever you need.
ok....
i just got the gt30/71r.....ive decided to run 15psi...max 20psi!
can i just have the wastegate designed for say 15psi.....
so i wont have to use a boost controller... is that do able?
for sure, just get a 1bar spring for whatever wastegate you want.

Yep, just like Lance said.
Get yourself the wastegate for 1bar. Run that for a while (Believe me, get it running right before you fuck with it *looks at own setup*)
Then get yourself the $40 boost controller like I've got and your away.
I have never had a problem with the ebay gates...and ive personally used them on 3 cars...2 were mine and one is my brothers.
ive also got a 38mm one for sale if youre keen its brand new

Damn, and I paid a grand for mine and it's fucked... Damn Tial.

6BOOST
I'm with 6boost... I considered the whole ebay vs good wastegate thing.
When you consider the effects of the wastegate getting stuck and a massive overboost, I decided to go for the mid point - I couldn't justify $1200 for an HKS gate, but I did spend ~$700 on a turbosmart one. I've heard more than a few stories of ebay gates sticking either open or closed, but turbosmart seems to have a pretty good rep (for the $$ especially)
I know a bloke whos pulled apart a HKS and Tial copy wastegate. He says the Tial copy was just as good as a genuine and was very impressed with the workmanship. He said the HKS one was a piece of crap and he threw it in the bin.
Apparently the bit to watch is the diaphram material.
Of course, youd productsworkshops....Im sure not every HKS/Tial copy is the same as there are probably a few shops making them.
I used to eat alot of natural foods. That was until I learned that most people died of natural causes.
if you shop around, you can also get some fairly good prices on TiAL's these days.
like what i pasted up on the first page. You'd be silly not to buy genuine.

ok well guys, bit of an update,
i scored a 46mm 12psi tial ebay gate for $100..............just want to get the thing running and will be changed to a genuine tial/turbosmart gate when the cash comes in....
i figured go for a bigger gate seeing that it is an ebay gate....
46mm will be fine with the gt30?......
cheers...
THIS ONE...

I got a genuine tial and so far it's been good. Running for around 1 year now.
For $100 that sounds like a copy mate.
my gate, (which i think is 46mm also?) was genuine Tial and was $1000 quite some time ago.
PLUS it's fucked up on me countless time, so I'm not impressed with tial at all.
THAT said, the guys who supplied it to me have been great with their support and help.
FWIW, I went for a 50mm Turbosmart gate for my 1UZ:

I've got a 46mm wastegate of Ebay for my T70, so i'd say for a T28, which is around half the size, around a 38mm should work well, and as others have said, just get a 1bar spring with a boost controller, and that setup should regulate boost accordingly.
