No, RA40 caliper mount holes are further apart than RA60.

Also RA40 mounts to the rear of the strut and onto a backing plate. RA60 mounts in front of the strut and has mount cast onto strut leg.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.

I put RA60 brakes on an RA23 strut (same as RA40) a few years back. You need to fabricate a new backing plate but it's pretty simple. Pics here:

That's exactly what I was planning on doing Norbie. By any chance do you recall how thick the mounting plate needed to be?

From memory the caliper bolts to the back of the plate so the thickness doesn't matter WRT caliper offset, just make sure it's nice and strong. I think I used 5mm plate but I really can't remember, I did this a long time ago.

I might add the braking performance is excellent in an RA23 and would be better again in a lighter AE86. You really wouldn't need anything bigger than this unless you were building a dedicated circuit racer. Also you can use 14" wheels with these brakes which is a bonus for some!

Not sure, I'll let you know when I check. Or just look up some shock inserts for each and check the body diameter.

Norbie, the claiper has the threaded holes in it, so it goes in front of the adaptor. However your pictures give a good idea of the thickness to use.

Looks like the shock size is ok from the dimension in a catalogue I was looking at even thought the part nos are the same.

Seems that RCA for AE86, RA40 and AE86 have the same whiteline part numbers.

Why would I not just use RA60 strut and brakes? Unless there is another reason that It won't work. The only thing left to find out is the KPI. I would be happy with 0 degrees of camber or there abouts.

Whiteline RCA part number for RA40 RA60 and AE86 is the same so they should bolt up to the steering arms slide86.

Looks like I need to visit pick and payless again and do some research

    whiteline is wrong
    no if's, no buts
    wrong

RA60 is definately wider between the holes.
RA40 has same pattern as AE86 tho.
