That is a seriously impressive conversion for the RA there. Can't believe it's that cheap to import over there... do you guys not get raped by the government with tariffs like we do here?
EDIT: blah had input. checked it and it was wrong so removed it![]()

thread revival,
anyone ever get a s13/14 into a Ra23 yet ? interesting thread as i was thinking of putting in a s14 rear end into my ra23. i will speak to my engineer and see if he will pass it .
Muz
Sheepers has done it with an R32 Skyline rear (very similar to S13 I understand??) but it was a lot of serious work and narrowing.

Due to the following post from oldcorollas in the KE Corolla thread, I figured it's time to bring this thread back from the dead with a question...
What about the MX5 rear end? Measurement from what I can find is 1520mm hub to hub. Rear track is 1430mm according to oldcorollas.

How strong are they?
Strong? Depends on whether the donor car was 1600cc or 1800cc apparently...
A mate of mine turbocharged a 1600cc MX5 and the diffs wouldn't hold dyno tuning!
Apparently there is large aftermarket support for the 1800cc vehicles in the States so bulletproof diff supplies are available. The 1600 and 1800 vehicles have different differentials which do not easily swap over he advised me.
Cheers,
Jason

479RWHP on 50psi and 70psi hasn't broken her at the track!
They tend to put RX7 centres in them so why bother? Just go direct to the Nissan or RX7 setups.
Callum
It's a nicely designed rear control arms setup. Much simpler than the nissan multi-link crap.
Kim from TCCA has an MX5 supercharged and has not had any diff issues to my knowledge
they are very popular with clubman builders so they may be a tad pricey
also Tim ask Cliff to talk to Matt Russell
he has S13 running gear in his AE86 including the diff I think

The older I get The better I was
The 1600 rear end is much smaller than the 1800. The 1800 is a bigger diff centre, half shafts etc and is a pain to retro fit. Its not the cheapest either. As for the RX7 setup - i think they have a wider track but its basically the same. Probably easier to find a stacked rx7 and cheaper too.

if you wanna go proper crazy you can do what loz did on his bullet. rx7 rear end, with SS commodore diff and mazda 929 driveshafts. it all works somehow and it's beefy as fuck... lol
1455mm rear track on the MX83 Cressida - G series so could be on the heavy side.
1440mm rear track on the ST185 Celica GT4 - anyone know what series this is? Sounds like an interesting possibility if it is an F series...

Doing the things that aren't popular... cause being popular and being good are often distinctly different.
ST185 is T series with a different spline.
Track is a bullshit measurement without offset of the wheels, 1440 track is actually bloody wide when my RA23 T series diff is 1370ish hub face to hub face. ST185 will be roughly 1500+ hub to hub with only 30P wheels which is a BIG difference.
Callum
Even worse than that Callum, the ST185 had +39 offset wheels from factory, so the hub to hub would be another 18mm wider again.
